I am seeing videos created by affiliates getting 2M+ views. - Offer discounts to affiliates not just customers. This strategy can also generate buzz around a new product launch. By offering these discounts, you don't have to worry about diminishing the perceived value of your brand while still boosting sales. An affiliate program is easy to manage. What is affiliate marketing? As a channel we rightly boast about the performance based commercial model which underpins affiliate marketing, and sets us apart from CPC or CPM based performance channels. AKA you only pay if the marketing generates sales. More and more though I see fixed fee or CPC models from affiliates. In this context how do we define ourselves as a channel? It feels like we are becoming a catch all testing channel for anything which sits outside of Google or Meta paid ads. This diversity is exciting but it leaves us with something of an identity crisis. If we don't define ourselves by our commercial model then how do we define the channel? Do we need to become more selective about what we class as affiliate activity? That seems a shame for such an innovative channel. I think affiliate marketing is in need of a rebrand and 'online partnerships' would be a more apt description for a channel which now covers everything from voucher codes, to commerce content, to CSS, to influencers, to card linked offers, to onsite cart abandonment tools, to employee benefit portals. #affiliatemarketing #affiliates #performancemarketing #partnermarketing #influencermarketing
