~33% of all S&P 500 stock trades are now executed in the last 10 minutes of the trading session. This is up from ~27% in 2021 and has been steadily increasing over the last few months. The entire trading session lasts for 390 minutes, but ONE THIRD of all trades are done in the last 10. Interestingly, assets of passive equity funds such as ETFs have risen to nearly $12 trillion in the US, according to Bloomberg. What is ETF? An ETF, or Exchange-Traded Fund, is like a basket holding lots of different investments, such as stocks, bonds, or commodities. When you buy shares of an ETF, it's like owning a small piece of everything inside the basket. ETFs are traded on stock exchanges, so you can buy or sell them throughout the day, just like stocks. They're popular because they offer diversification (spreading your money across different investments) and are usually low-cost. ETFs track specific indexes, industries, or assets, allowing investors to easily invest in a wide range of things without needing to buy each one individually

What orders are the largest single orders in the markets these days? I would wager it is companies buying back their own shares... e.g. GM is buying US$10bn... that was equivalent to buying 25% of their outstanding shares when they announced it. Companies receive no safe harbour from market abuse if they trade in the closing phase of the market, so as a general rule they do not. Limiting a buyers liquidity access increases the time it takes to execute their orders.. when you increase the time you increase the risk...
