(In terms of characteristics f.ex. I belive curiosity and being comfortable in explorative work methods is necessary, but isn't something you have on your CV).

It not only exposes students to the working of museums through curatorial studies, museum management, public programming, and conservation methods, but also provides them with a holistic view of museums by engaging them with the philosophy of art, history and culture. As an independent Art Curator, I believe that staying ahead in the ever-evolving art world is crucial. That's why I'm excited to share my latest step in this journey with you all. Through the work of some of the most remarkable curators, the students will develop an understanding of how curating works by looking back at its history and by examining certain case studies. The analysis of specific editions of the Venice Art Biennale will give us the possibility to look to the predecessors and the influences of specific curators on their work. But it is also an opportunity to explore the ways in which the curatorial practices are changing and examine increasingly diverse approaches to exhibition-making. The objectives of the workshop: To gain familiarity with different types of models of curatorial practices and evaluate the essential qualities of a strong curator through understanding the historical and contemporary role of the curator in relation to past and recent exhibition models.

#AdultEducation | The other day, while taking an unscheduled walk I happened to pass by Κέντρο Τεχνών ΜΕΤΣ | METS Arts Center. I took the opportunity to tour the current exhibition “HUMANCONDITIΩΝ”. There I learned from the excellent professional Head Curator Niovi K. (thank you!) that Visual Arts are read and interpreted on three levels. Below I will try to note what I learned, hopefully remembering it correctly and understanding it at least to some satisfactory degree.   1. Visual level: we try to understand what we see, shapes, objects, and forms.   2. Colour level: we try to suspect the role played by the specific colours in the work.   3. Conceptual level: we try to contemplate the inner meaning of the various interactions of forms and colours with each other.   With appropriate adaptation, the above points can be very helpful for the study of many different scientific objects.   I won't give an example here. I prefer to discuss it first with my travel and tourism students in our digital classroom.   But I hope the above lesson will be useful to those who read it.   Oh! I've always been amused by the idea that museums preserve memories, when they are so forgetful about their own histories. 'Museums Will Forget: Critical Approaches to Catalog-Centered Historical Research' In this article, published in a special issue of the journal 'Collections', I talk about how the history of a museum might be critically examined and reconstructed through its catalogues. Using the example of the Museum of Cornish Life I take a look at topics like ancestry, nostalgia, anemoia, cataloguing styles, curatorial deference and how there is no discernible link between assiduousness in documentation and the introduction of professional procedures. https://lnkd.in/eXp2kKdj
