We are pleased to see commitments made by the European Commission today during the State of the European Union address, designed to support the development of the clean tech industries in Europe, such as flow batteries. Last night at 2:30, a huge step for the entire CDR space was achieved: The EU reached a provisional agreement on the Carbon Removal Certification Framework! 🌍 Fortunately, the EU implemented the CRCF as a technology-open framework, making it possible for every CDR method to fully showcase its potential. Especially for biochar as the main driver and the most technologically ready solution, this is a significant leap toward more public awareness and may lead to an even faster acceleration of the industry. This development will also significantly boost other sectors such as Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), Direct Air Capture and Storage (DACS), and Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), by further increasing research and development opportunities. We are really looking forward to the next chapter of this journey, eagerly awaiting the first official methodologies, which should be released in a timely manner. With these in place, 2024 and 2025 will be important and exciting years for climate policy.
