Learners with disabilities deserve #HigherEducation systems that are accessible and inclusive. More than 30 years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act (#ADA34) laid the groundwork for more accessible #HigherEd systems, but our institutions and policies still have a long way to go. Today, only 18% of disabled adults have a BA degree – half the rate of adults without a disability. By moving beyond ADA compliance to truly inclusive and learner-centered design, we can start to close this gap. The theme for Learning Disability Week this year (2024), which will be observed from June 17 to June 23, is "Do you see me?". This theme is focused on raising awareness about the barriers faced by people with learning disabilities and celebrating their contributions to society. The week aims to promote visibility, understanding, and inclusion for individuals with learning disabilities. Each day of the week will address different aspects of visibility and support for people with learning disabilities, such as "Do you understand me?", "Will you work with me?", and "Do you hear me?". Activities and events will be held to foster community involvement and to highlight the talents and achievements of those with learning disabilities. #Learningdisabilityweek #Letsobservethisweek
