My #MBAJourney is about half way through now! I began in 2022 despite the most difficult times and have persevered since! Because of no formal business training at Bachelors level before that, I had to complete a #CertificateinBusinessFoundations through Nexford University where I obtained the following grades: 1. Culture in a Global Business Environment 89.5% 2. Global Marketing Practices 93.4% 3. Applied Economics and Statistics 91.8% 4. International Legal Environment of Business 100% I then began my core modules for my MBA, which I am about half-way through and my grades thus far are: 1. Global Business 96.8% 2. Leadership and Organizational Development 99.6% 3. Marketing Strategy 100% 4. Accounting and Financial Reporting 100% 5. Technology and Operations Management 95.3% I have the following core modules left: 1. Organizational Strategy 2. Introduction to Intrapreneurship and Innovation 3. Financial Decision Making Then I move on to my electives: 1. Robotics and Automation 2. Artificial Intelligence 3. Internet of Things Finally, I will complete my Business Capstone. About One (1)-year ago (May 22nd 2023), I obtained my Certificate of Completion of the #Nexford Business Foundation Courses, with studies on: Culture in a Global Business Environment, Global Marketing Practices, Applied Economics and Statistics, International Legal Environment of Business. This Certificate was pivotal to moving me ahead into Core MBA Courses at #Nexford_University. I had to keep it on my shelf until am done with all my Core studies. This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. – (Psalm 118:23). Thank you Lord God for this WIN !!! Also, I must say that the 2nd Principle from the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Steven R. Covey was instrumental in moving me towards my goal. “Begin with the End in Mind” …..by defining a clear vision of my desired outcomes in life to building personal and professional effectiveness. If you are in the business of acquiring more customers, growing revenue, seeking how to improve on your business productivity and moving that career to the next level….It is never too late. I went back to school today - it was brilliant to be in the hallowed halls of Liverpool John Moores University to talk about all things #shipping and #sustainability focused. Speaking at the "BattleShip: Industry v Academia" challenge, hosted by (and don't be fooled by the photo) YoungShip International #Liverpool I wanted to get stuck into the actions needed as we collectively tackle the crucial issue of sustainability in the shipping industry. The presentation rested on key takeaways about the balance of cost v value when it comes to our industry: The fact that #shipping is essential: It connects continents, drives commerce, and underpins our way of life. While #sustainability is critical: The industry must address its environmental impact and embrace a green future. All brought together with the fact that young people are the #changemakers: They have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of shipping. In the presentation, I didn't look to just highlight problems, but to offer solutions too, building a narrative of change, sharing stories of positive change and innovation. I focused on the rewards that come through collaboration, the role of transparency, sharing data, progress, and challenges openly. While we also discussed economic incentives and generating consumer demand for sustainable products that can drive change. The aim was to send a clear message, that by focusing on visibility and value, the shipping industry can achieve viability - a future where economic prosperity coexists with environmental and social responsibility. This is not just an aspiration; it's a call to action for the "better angels of shipping's nature", especially the young minds at YoungShip, to lead the way. Thank you Matthew Treadwell and Sean Loughney and as ever a big shout out to Robyn Pyne Christos Kontovas for always making me feel so welcome. Results are in for the “managing in a changing world” module, and with over 70% I passed with merit. It’s been a tough summer studying and working while dealing with serious issues in my personal life and this therefore means a lot more to me today. It certainly wasn’t easy and does take it out of you when studying in your spare time, but again proves the benefits of distance learning that you can study at home, while walking the dog, in hospital, on the sofa, on planes and trains…anywhere! #mba #openuniversity #business

It seems we're in a race to make everything instant, even our education. Are we heading towards a future where we'll see 'Instant MBAs'? Just add water, stir, and voila - you're a business guru! 😂 While it's commendable to see innovative learning platforms emerge, let's not forget that true mastery and depth of understanding take time. The journey of learning is just as important, if not more so, than the certificate at the end. So, what's next? A '10-Minute MBA' delivered by a #blinkit #drone? Now that would be something!
