Two-way traffic opening will make travel safer, faster at Falls Creek People travelling Highway 1 south of Spences Bridge will have faster travel times with the opening of two-way traffic two years after the road was severely damaged in the 2021 floods. Traffic will open to a single lane in each direction starting Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, on the Falls Creek Bridge (Jackass Mountain), located 55 kilometres south of Spences Bridge. A temporary single-lane bridge has been in place since a culvert washout in 2021. A new three-lane permanent Falls Creek bridge is under construction and will be completed next year. Quick Facts: **Falls Creek culvert on Jackass Mountain was washed out during the floods in November 2021. **Highway 1 through the Fraser-Thompson Corridor closed between Spences Bridge and Hope on Nov. 14, 2021, due to damage caused by heavy rains. **More than 150 workers, using 80 pieces of equipment, moved more than 150,000 cubic metres of gravel, rock and other material to repair and reopen Highway 1 to vehicle traffic on Jan. 14, 2022 (Lytton to Spences Bridge), and Jan. 24, 2022 (Lytton to Boston Bar). **There were 18 sites affected on Highway 1 between Hope and Spences Bridge, including four that required extensive temporary repairs to reopen. I think it's fair to say many people have little or lack knowledge about illegal encroachment and factors which can pose a risk to their safety as well as the safety of the infrastructure that falls within the boundaries. Land disparities and difficulties of easy-to-access public services and this often leads to traverse of boundaries and unauthorised use of a person's or state properties. It is a violation of human rights law that people must still be deprived access to core basic services. The core services that local government provides - clean drinking water, sanitation, electricity, shelter, waste removal and roads - are basic human rights, essential components of the right to dignity enshrined by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. To combat these challenges, it is important to recognize the important of having effective monitoring systems in place i.e Satellite monitoring and GIS (Geographic Information System) technology to monitor illegal dwelling encroachment into areas around power lines, pipelines, roads and servitude areas regarding municipal infrastructure. Prevention is better than cure. Municipalities are entitled with a Constitutional mandate to ensure that zoning regulations are in did in place and enforceable, that their people have adequate housing, access to basic services, to promote the social and economic development of the community, to promote safe and healthy environments and they have the duty to make land available for housing development etc. The primary remedy therefore is an order for removal of the structure." encroachment or to award damages and compensation. In such instances, the deciding factor is the disproportionality or otherwise between the removal of the encroachment as against the damage or inconvenience suffered by the aggrieved land-owner. The identification and evaluation of new land sites for relocating the settlement will help resolve the issue.

Grateful to God for the blessings!! Great Client’s made last year a success, without them we are nothing. Massive thanks to Roni Savage for mentoring and support in creating a lean team and Ebenezer Adenmosun for the best advice ever. I distilled it down to ‘without satisfied client’s you do not have a business’ simple, but it became a daily mantra and an approach to work.     Placing client relationship at the centre of everything. From the inception point, we adopted a team dynamics approach, projecting trust to be a member of the client’s team by starting with the norming stage of the relationship while learning about the client and delivering performance.    Last year showed our value proposition and approach to delivery can be successful with last year’s business plan smashed, its colleague stretched target defenestrated and by November, we were on Santa’s nice list. Mayor Matt Gould  · ROADS & BRIDGES UPDATE Some good news to end the day. Rises in the water levels at Wallacia are slowing and at Menangle it is currently falling (although the BOM believe a second peak may be possible). There does also not appear to be a large amount of significant debris in the water. As a result it is now unlikely that Blaxland Crossing (Wallacia Bridge) will need to be closed, although it can’t be completely ruled out. The river has also peaked below the minor flood level at Camden and as a result Cobbitty Bridge is expected to stay open and not need to be closed again. Water has now fallen below the deck of the bridge at Menangle, however before it can be reopened it needs to be cleaned and inspected by an engineer from TfNSW. The inspection can’t take place overnight so it is expected Menangle Bridge will reopen tomorrow. At this stage Douglas Park Causeway remains closed, as do York St in Tahmoor and the Oberon-Colong Stock Route. Additionally there is also a significant pothole on Remembrance drive at Picton. 🌴Queensland's road safety is set to receive a significant boost with a new funding initiative aimed at enhancing infrastructure and reducing accidents across the state. The Federal Government is set to provide $17.4 million to add and improve safety measures at 31 known motor accident hot spots across Queensland, as part of the 2024-25 Black Spot Program🛣️ The Black Spot Program funds a range of safety measures at locations where serious crashes have occurred, or are at risk of occurring.
