Have you found yourself leading a team without any formal training on how to manage people? Especially in the nonprofit world, you are not alone! Whether it’s a lack of resources for training or time to devote to learning new leadership skills, our workshop "Manage Your Board, Lead Your Staff," will help set you and your nonprofit up for leadership success. People are your organization’s most valuable resources and effective leadership is one of your organization’s biggest opportunities for impact. Join us for this half-day workshop with instructor and learn how to shift a management mindset to that of a leader, leverage your talent and trust your team. “Leading a nonprofit business is ever-evolving. Michael Corley’s session reminded me of the following: Just because I can doesn’t mean I should,” said Janene Amick, CEO, Florida Cultural Group, Inc. “Leading involves teaching, coaching, mentoring, delegating, and most of all knowing the difference of each. Michael’s session was full of knowledge nuggets and presented in such a way that makes one feel good about where they are in their leadership currently and the possibilities of where they can lead their organization too." Instructor Michael Corley is a nonprofit leadership consultant who works with various boards of directors, funders, and agencies on topics including strategy, governance, alignment, and leadership. He currently consults with several private foundations and has served on nonprofit boards as the board chair, treasurer, governance chair, and finance committee member. In this session, he will explore the leadership opportunities exclusive to executive and management functions of a nonprofit. With multiple bosses (board members) and any number of staff and volunteers, an effective executive director, CEO, and other managers must know when to manage, when to lead, when to trust, when to delegate, and when to stand down. You'll learn: · The keys to engaging your board members · Secrets to managing a board of directors · Five skills you need to be an effective leader · How to lead and manage professional staff · What makes a "leader" vs. a "boss" · To build the skills you need to be able to delegate to and trust your team · The tasks that only the executive director can do · How to lead and manage volunteers · What to do when you want to throw in the towel Join us April 2, 2024, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Space Coast Health Foundation’s Center for Collaboration in Rockledge, FL. Fee is $59. Please register by March 21, 2024. 🌟 Are your Board members ready to step into leadership roles? 🌟 👉 Just read an eye-opening piece on how Boards deal with the challenge of finding the right leader. It's like searching for a needle in a haystack! When no one steps up, what's the game plan? 💡 Learning from the article: Creating space for leaders to emerge is like tending a garden. You need to nurture the seedlings (potential leaders) and give them room to grow and bloom. 🔍 Short-term Fix: Don't rush! Slow down to speed up the process. Taking time to find the right fit can save you from chaos later on. 🔍 Long-term Solution: Set clear expectations and create a culture that values leadership. Let others lead and share the responsibility. It's about building a team, not a one-person show. 💭 Imagine a ship with a captain and no crew. Everyone plays a role in sailing it smoothly. How can you empower your Board members to navigate the nonprofit waters effectively? In a world of evolving leadership dynamics, how does your Board tackle the challenge of finding the next leader?
