🚨 Big news coming out of SF Climate Week! 💥 At an event tonight, we announced a major partnership with XPRIZE to support the $100 Million XPRIZE Carbon Removal! The $100 Million XPRIZE Carbon Removal is a global competition aimed at tackling the biggest threat facing humanity - fighting climate change and rebalancing Earth's carbon cycle. This is a major step forward for advancing breakthrough CDR solutions that have the potential to scale to gigatonne levels. 📰 Here are the details: 🔹 How it works: Carbonfuture’s digital MRV system will enable the collection of performance and verification data across the 20 finalists competing for the XPRIZE Carbon Removal, in line with the rigorous standards set by XPRIZE. XPRIZE's verification partners will access this data through the Carbonfuture MRV+ system to verify the projects. 🔹 Why it matters: Carbonfuture and XPRIZE’s partnership is a great example of leaders in CDR innovation coming together to build #trust in carbon removal efforts and accelerate their scalability through rigorous monitoring, reporting, and verification (#MRV). This represents a first-of-a-kind verification effort across all carbon removal pathways: Air, Oceans, Land, and Rocks. 🌱 We’re thrilled to be partnering with XPRIZE to scale the next generation of CDR solutions! This time on our #NavigatingNetZeroValueChains series we hear from Autumn Fox, Climate Sustainability Senior Manager at Mars ☘ To reach their climate targets, Mars has set 5-year milestones and an overall 2050 goal for emission reductions, and their Net Zero Roadmap goes into detail on how to do that across Scopes 1, 2 and 3. Being a big organisation with tens of thousands of suppliers, understanding every source of emissions is a huge data endeavour for the company. Hear Autumn’s thoughts on how VCI Working Groups can help along the way, and why collective action is key for Scope 3. Climate scientist Peter Kalmus articulates the failure of COP28 beautifully: "The problem is power. Over the last few hundred years of extractive colonialist capitalism, rich people (and their corporations, mechanisms of more-than-human perpetuation and accumulation) have enclosed capital, and that capital has accrued more capital, and that exponentially growing capital purchases laws and judges and media and disinformation. And all this influence has determined how we can collectively imagine, and how we collectively imagine has determined the direction we take as a society. The rich benefit from this status quo, at least until everything collapses (and insulated, they are unable to see that they are driving the system toward collapse). Therefore, they strongly resist changing it. This resistance to change is the hallmark of the COP process, and we saw it in spectacular fashion last week at COP28. Where do we go from here? We need to start by agreeing that COP28, like other COPs, was a complete failure. Claiming that it was somehow not a failure, clinging to bits of false hope, generates a powerful illusion that business as usual can continue. We've been doing this for 30 years now. The possibility of keeping heating to under 1.5 degrees C has been squandered. If we cling to false hope that it's working, we will keep doing it, year after year, making no progress. This is what the fossil fuel industry wants; this is how we lose a planet. We then need to establish an international summit and fossil fuel treaty system that isn't broken under the weight of fossil fuel industry corruption. To do this, we need to ban the fossil fuel industry from the negotiations, and doing this will require a stronger climate movement. Every single one of us can work, in our own way, to make the movement stronger. Be a climate activist: join with other climate activists—we're not hard to find—and take risks. It's up to us." In our race towards net-zero emissions by 2050, the momentum for science-based targets (SBTs) is accelerating. With companies representing $38 trillion of the global economy committing to SBTs, the imperative for action is clear. These targets, aligned with climate science, are crucial for halving global emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero by 2050. Over 3,000 companies are already onboard, signaling a collective commitment to a sustainable future. Setting SBTs not only mitigates climate change but also offers tangible benefits like cost savings, risk identification, and enhanced reputation. Join FutureScaleX in this crucial movement towards a sustainable future. #ClimateAction #SBTs #NetZero2050 #SustainableFuture #ClimateScience #EmissionsReduction

Is Our Planet's Future Already Decided? 🌍💡 The latest report from the World Economic Forum and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) delivers a stark message: to avoid a climate catastrophe, annual emissions must plummet by 7%, not inch up by 1.5%. The gap between action and necessity has never been clearer. What's Needed? - Immediate Action: The time for distant goals is over. We need impactful actions now. - Scalable Solutions: Accelerate the adoption of solar, wind, and EVs. Innovate and scale emerging tech like green hydrogen and carbon capture. - Finance Transformation: Bridge the funding gap. Drive investments towards high-impact climate projects. - Inclusive Transition: Ensure the green transition benefits all, leaving no community behind. At CO2 AI, we are steering towards being part of the solution. Our commitment? Bold, transparent action towards a sustainable future. The question isn't if we can afford to act—it's whether we can afford not to. Let's unite for the planet. The time is now. 🚀 #WEF2024 #BCG #ClimateAction #SustainableFuture #InnovateForChange

As we navigate the post-peak years of demographic shifts, the ripple effects of wars, and an intensifying climate crisis, the question at the heart of #rp24 couldn't be more timely: "Who Cares?" Who is willing to step up? At the re:publica 24 opening the founder of @re_publica @tincon issued a powerful call to action: "Men, it's time to take care. It's time to be feminists." #ChangeMakers #DigitalResponsibility #republica2024

Last week, I had the honour of drawing day one of the Flood and Coast 2024 conference to a close. I took the opportunity as CIWEM (The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management) Junior President to tell the audience why it's important to build inclusive communities, to have understanding of one another and to encourage greater accessibility for all. I shared personal details of my career to date as a neurodivergent individual. This included some of the negative comments and advice I've been given. I then shared the positive reframed version and spoke of how assuming good intentions helps to build stronger, more collaborative teams. Asking for clarification helps ensure everyone is on the same page, and providing context helps wider understanding. I also, inadvertently, showed the audience that it's okay to be human, that none of us are perfect or polished in all moments. Speaking to the largest audience in my life, I completely lost my place and my brain forgot how to read 😨 Nightmare! 😨 Whilst the moment felt much longer to me, the audience were understanding and supportive, willing me to regain composure and carry on. During my speech, I asked the audience to be vulnerable and brave, and to model these behaviours in their day to day work. I also asked those present to consider how they can help others, most especially those building their careers, to share access to the opportunities, networks and exposure they have built. Saying other peoples names when they aren't in the room costs nothing, yet does wonders for earlier career professionals and minorities of any kind. I'll leave this post as I did with my speech: 🌟 When we help others, we all benefit 🌟 #FC2024 #FloodandCoast2024 #FloodandCoast24 #EarlyCareers #CIWEMJuniorPresident #Accessibilty #Inclusion #Neurodiversity #VulnerableAndBrave #WhenWeHelpOthersWeAllBenefit
