NEW REPORT ON BEST PRACTICE OF WI-FI FOR FISHING CREW Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has released a report exploring best practice in relation to provision of Wi-Fi for fishing crew at sea that includes recommendations for action. In this fast-moving era of connectivity technology, there is broad agreement from vessel owners, the private sector and trade unions that crew at sea in excess of 24 hours should have access to Wi-Fi, free of cost, to make personal calls and exchange messages. https://lnkd.in/eGjtWhGN

WATER SPORTS ACTIVITIES As we enjoy the summer, safety and procedures should be reminded with regards to water sport activities. Several Flag States have emphasized the importance of assessing the risks associated with water sports activities on board yachts. These assessments should be conducted using formal Risk Assessments (RAs), and the findings should then inform the development of onboard Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Most accidents and incidents related to water sports stem from human error. By carefully examining and improving the procedures involved, we can significantly reduce their likelihood and severity. We have published a new #LossPrevention Insight Report focusing on #fumigation. In this report we highlight the importance of understanding the risks associated with fumigation on board vessels. The application for intransit fumigation should be made with the agreement of the Port State Administration, either for the fumigation being intentionally continued in sealed cargo spaces during the voyage without aeration prior to sailing, or for in-port cargo fumigation. The report was produced in collaboration between the Britannia loss prevention team and CWA International Ltd and examines the importance of understanding the risks associated with fumigation on board #vessels.
