Watch this video, hear this heart-wrenching song and tell me the victims of October 7th “deserved it”. Justify their suffering, their rape and murder as “legitimate resistance”. Look their friends and family in the eyes and tell them Israel is “just as bad” as Hamas, it’s a “cycle of violence”, “morally grey”, “all resistance is justified”. If I as a music lover happened to be at Nova music festival on October 7th, you would justify my slaughter too, wouldn’t you? You utterly sick, morally depraved ‘basket of deplorables’ that you are. I never wanted to learn how ethically unconscionable so many of my peers are on the most obvious of moral situations. And more than that, I never wanted to learn the moral failings of people I looked up to, the “mentors” and “experts” and “elites” of the world, who for some reason simply do not or cannot have empathy with the people of the Jewish nation. This is not “morally grey”: it’s the most striking instance of good versus evil in modern history. The depravity of Hamas is so unimaginable that mere knowledge of their carnage presents a psychological trauma that therapy may never be able to undue. It is not an exaggeration to say they put the Nazis to shame. And you love them for it, don’t you? You can’t admit it, but you wanted those Israelis to “get what they deserved”. And you didn’t want them to hit back. “Ceasefire now” - how about you just shut up about it? Anyone who shouts those words at Israel demonstrates their utter ignorance on this war. You want your precious ceasefire? Here’s a helpful guide for you. It only takes two things. Ready? 1. Hamas must RELEASE EVERY LAST HOSTAGE 2. Hamas must LAY DOWN THEIR ARMS AND SURRENDER There is no alternative. Justice demands that justice be done. And it is, and it will. Am Yisrael Chai 🇮🇱 #standwithIsrael #bringthemhomenow

#MayaNeelakantan - 10 year old Rock Goddess from the land of Godesses! Maya gave a Carnatic (Raga Natabhairavi) twist to a 14 year old viral song called “Last Resort” by a singer called “Papa Roach” - https://lnkd.in/gkjbNxpe I barely have a clue about rock music, but this 10 year old clearly rocked the boat at #AmericasGotTalent. Indian form barely 1% of American population, but people like Maya help spread #Bharat’a soft power. Which is super important to navigate through the challenges the future holds for the world. Most would think all these things don’t matter much when it comes to countries But the truth is “Familiarity breeds friendship”. Here’s a small story from WW2 to prove my point! Not many people know that one of USA’s targets that were considered to drop the #AtomicBomb in JAPAN was a city of 1 million + people called #KYOTO. Which was an industrial center and former capital. But the then Secretary of War HENRY STIMSON persuaded #PresidentTruman to exclude Kyoto from the list against the military’s wishes because he had visited Kyoto many times in the 1920’a when he was the Governor of Philippines & KYOTO Was also his honeymoon destination. Some say it’s the Archaeologist & Historian Langdon Warner & not Henry Stimson - https://lnkd.in/ge4v-8-x Soft power does have its importance. #jaiBharat
This is brilliant! A carnatic twist on Papa Roach's Last Resort, by 10 yo Maya Neelakantan, on America's Got Talent. She's based her carnatic improvs on #natabhairavi raga ig. And she's a student of (who else but) Guitar Prasanna! 🙂 Yes, Simon, she’s a Rock Goddess. From the land of Goddesses. Join | t.me/SatyaagrahIndia

🎭 Apokries: the Greek carnival that brings people together 🇬🇷 On January 28th in Greece, Apokries kicks off, a three-week carnival that precedes the Great Lent. The name of the celebration comes from the Greek words "apo kreas," meaning "without meat." During this time, Greeks celebrate the transition from winter to spring, reveling in traditional treats and joyous festivities. 🕺💃 The streets of cities and villages come alive with noise and merriment. People organize parades, dances, and festivals. Bright costumes, often depicting characters from Greek myths and legends, become one of the symbols of Apokries. It's a time of joy and celebration, where everyone immerses themselves in the carnival atmosphere, forgetting about daily worries. 🎉 Beyond the merriment, Apokries carries profound symbolism. The abstention from meat signifies renunciation and preparation for the Great Lent. It's a period of self-reflection, cleansing both the soul and the body. 🤹♂️ Thus, Apokries is not just a carnival; it's a time for reflection, enjoyment, and traditions. This three-week festival brings people together, reminding them of the importance of joy, play, and the value of shared time. #apokries #carnival #greece #festivity #grekodom

The terms festival and feast, usually, but not always, involves eating, drinking or both, in relation with a specific kind of rite. It might be passage, death, sacrificial rites, seasonal or commemorative observances, and rites celebrating the ending of fast periods. Fasting, the opposite of feasting, has often been affiliated with purification rites. It can also be described as preparatory discipline for the celebration of feasts and rites. Festivals often include not only feasting, but also dramatic dancing, athletic events, carnivals and revelries at times. Throughout the history of human culture, certain days or periods of time have been set aside to commemorate, ritually celebrate, re-enact, or anticipate events. #feast #festivals

Amidst the whirl of Holi festivities—bonfires roaring, colors dancing, and sweet aromas teasing our senses—there's a deeper tale waiting to be unraveled. Hidden within the layers of tradition lies the age-old tale of Prahalada, Holika, and Hiranyakashyap. But is it just a story? Their story isn't just a myth; it's a mirror reflecting timeless truths. In our everyday hustle, we've grown accustomed to embracing negative emotions like anger, jealousy, hurt, fear, lust, attachment, greed, and stress as normal. But, hold on, festivals like Holi serve as wake-up calls. Holi gently nudges us to remember our true essence—filled with joy, peace, love, care and happiness. It is our original nature. It's like an alarm clock ringing in our souls. Now, when that alarm sounds, what will we do? Will we wake up to our authentic selves? Or will we hit snooze and return to our old patterns? Or perhaps, we'll train ourselves to wake up naturally, without any external cues? The choice lies within us. So, this Holi, let's embrace the opportunity to rediscover our inner light. Happy Holi, dear friends! 😊 🙏 💙 #festivalofcolours #learningeveryday #innernature #awakening #soulconsciousness #linkedin #linkedinforcreators

Today is Cinco de Mayo! Last year, Damaris Punales-Alpizar, a faculty member at Case Western Reserve University shared insights about common misconceptions surrounding this holiday. 💡 Misconception 1: "Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s Independence Day." Cinco de Mayo recognizes when nationalist troops unexpectedly won the Battle of Puebla against the French Army in 1862. 💡 Misconception 2: "Cinco de Mayo is a major holiday in Mexico." For many years, Cinco de Mayo celebrations were limited to the state of Puebla, but overall, the day is not widely celebrated across Mexico. In the United States, the date is largely seen as a celebration of Mexican American culture stretching back to the 1800s in California. 💡 Misconception 3: "Cinco de Mayo is centered on partying." By the late 1980s, marketing campaigns brought Cinco de Mayo to the public eye with beer companies promoting drinking as a way to celebrate the date. The holiday's commercialization can often overshadow its historical significance. 📑 For further reading, check out this article from PBS NewsHour about the history and traditions of Cinco de Mayo! #CincoDeMayo #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #DEI
