HD1 is one of the most distant galaxies ever discovered. Considering the rate of expansion of the Universe, its estimated “proper distance” is 33.4 billion light-years away. It’s one of the earliest galaxies to grace the cosmos, created about 324 million years after the Big Bang. #technology #aerospace #space #spacemission #moon #rocket #rockets #spaceexploration #aerospace #satellite #satellites #spacetechnology #spaceinnovation #spacecraft #spacenews #spacestation

Pioneer Mars Penetrator Mission (1974) The name "Pioneer" was applied to several different space missions and spacecraft designs. The first U.S. moon probes, launched by the Air Force in 1958-59, bore the name, as did a series of interplanetary "weather satellites" and the first spacecraft to brave the Asteroid Belt and fly past Jupiter and Saturn. The last Pioneers were Venus explorers, but if Hughes, makers of the Pioneer Venus spacecraft, had had their way, another pioneer would have explored Mars with six hard-landing penetrator probes. https://lnkd.in/gq4ZqYi9

Today in Tech History- February 17th, 1959- Vanguard 2, the first weather satellite in space, is launched to measure cloud-cover distribution over the daylight portion of its orbit, for a period of 19 days, and to provide information on the density of the atmosphere for the lifetime of its orbit. As the first weather satellite and one of the first orbital space missions, the launch of Vanguard 2 was an important milestone in the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union. The satellite is still in orbit today and is expected to continue to orbit for about 300 years.

End of an Era: Final Delta IV Heavy Rocket Carries NROL-70 on Historic Mission. by Charles Briggs - Space Coast FL (SPX) The last mission of the venerable Delta IV Heavy rocket, marked by the launch of the NROL-70 security payload, is scheduled for March 28, 2024, at 1:40 PM EDT from SLC 37, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This event not only signifies the conclusion of the Delta Rocket lineage but also celebrates its rich history of achievements and innovations in space exploration. The Delta Rocket series, since its inception on May 13, 1960, during Dwight Eisenhower's presidency, has been a cornerstone of American space endeavors. With its first launch coinciding with cultural milestones like Elvis Presley's "Stuck on You" topping the charts and a loaf of bread costing 20 cents, the Delta has since then completed 388 missions. It has evolved from its original configuration of 90 feet in height and a mass of 112,000 lbs to the Delta IV Heavy's impressive stature of 235 feet and a mass of 1.6 million lbs. https://lnkd.in/dMt5M3Ai
