Productive day out visiting schools with one of Protocol Education’s School Partnership Managers: Hope Yates. Getting out to schools, meeting new people and building on the existing relationships is probably my favourite part about recruitment 🤩 #nottinghamjobs #educationjobs #educationrecruitment #relationshipbuilding

The Power of VbE: A Path to a Peaceful Future In a world increasingly divided by tribalism and intolerance, the need for a peaceful future for our children has never been greater. Recent research highlights the role of Values-based Education (VbE) in healing social division. A study by The University of Queensland in Australia, reported recently by Positive News, reveals the impact of VbE. Participants in a two-hour workshop designed to expand their ‘circles of concern’, followed by two weeks of compassion exercises, showed significantly increased empathy towards others, including towards marginalized groups and even those labeled as ‘villains'. During the following three months, the increased compassion grew without any further intervention. Values-based schools expose students to this type of awareness every day throughout the whole of their time at school. Values-based schools know first- hand the long-term benefits VbE plays in promoting social cohesion both in the school and throughout the community. This is just one of the many benefits Values-based Education offers students. For more information about VbE, visit: https://lnkd.in/d3EcmGs The full research is available here: https://lnkd.in/eivGTFVg #vbezone #ValuesBasedEducation #Compassion #FutureGeneration #PeacefulWorld

How could user centred design be used to support teachers? In the tech world, there is a lot of talk about user centred design. This is the process where a service designer maps consumers/needs and tries to identify service delivery pinch points by asking actual consumers: when does it becomes easier or more difficult to navigate a service. This information is used to support service redesign to make it easier for the consumer. In practice it involves a bunch of project managers throwing around words like 'agile' and 'waterfall', and there are a ton of post-it notes as well. In government services this might involve an ethnographer sitting down with first time mothers trying to navigate MyGov to sign up for Child Care Benefit. If an ethnographer had followed me to try to get CCB, they would have seen me go online to MyGov, then be referred to an in-person appointment at Centrelink, followed by a frustrated call to a Minister's Office, then a visit to the GP to get them to upload a missing vaccination onto the immunisation register, before finally getting access to the service. Lots of painful pinch points. Reading this article has got me thinking about what a user designer would do if they were trying to help teachers to get the best literacy outcomes for their students. It would be a long ethnographic exercise that could take half a century starting with connecting with a teacher who: - undertakes an initial teacher education degree at university in 2024 - works as a teacher for 20 years to 2044 - goes on to become a principal, or public servant in an education department, or a private tutor for another 20 years, retiring in 2064. Unless there is a cut through catalyst to support teachers to access the training, tools and support they need - system change will take a very long time. It's time to get out the post-it notes and starting throwing the word agile around.

There is much to be learned from the time-tested pedagogy and principles of classical Lutheran education. The aim of this workshop, sponsored by the Indiana District of the LCMS in partnership with the Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education, is to introduce some of those benefits and blessings to Lutheran parents, educators, and administrators. The workshop will identify ways in which any Lutheran school can introduce and implement various aspects of this tried-and-true methodology, and offer a fresh way of thinking about the goals and purposes of education.
