This afternoon, the Bankers for Net Zero (B4NZ) team attended the Economist Impact 9th Annual Sustainability Week. Among a range a fascinating discussions, our CEO, Heather Buchanan joined a discussion on ‘Financing Net Zero: Assessing and Accelerating Green Finance’. Heather was joined by moderator Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran and other speakers, Nicki Harrison and Evelina Olago 🇺🇦. A topic that Heather touched on is the role of banks in the transition. So where do they come in? 🌍 60% of the world’s leading banks have made commitments to reach net zero carbon emissions 🌍 The world will require trillions of pounds of investment to enable a transition to a low carbon economy - a primary source of this investment will be from banks 🌍 It will be up to banks to ensure our transition is ‘just’ - they are well equipped to support SME’s net zero action, and with their own net zero commitments, it is essential that they do #SMEs #carbonemissions #b4nz
