I'm on the Softissues podcast! - "'So-called' experts Wei, Matt, Lee and Ev rant about the bike industry and discuss the ins and outs of cycling with a bias towards bike fitting and custom bikes." In this episode, together we explore the practicality and purposefulness of emotional intelligence in fostering a welcoming and safe environment for ourselves and those around us in the bike fitting world. And getting better riding experiences! Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize and understand our own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. The ability to do this, or not, has unique implications for the client and the bike fitter. By developing emotional intelligence, we can communicate more effectively, manage stress and conflict, and build stronger relationships. In this episode, we delve into the practical applications of emotional intelligence in our personal and professional lives. Wei and Matt also share how they have benefited from implementing emotional intelligence strategies in their bike fits. I chat about being on the inside of the industry for 15 years. Founder of the ME region's first and only sports platform that puts women in sport first / host & producer of 2x category leading podcasts/ award-winning comms pro / (slow) ultra-cyclist
Here's a personal story about the power of sport. In 2019, after owning a bike for three months, I did my first self-supported ultra-cycling race. I was hooked. I went on to compete in 3 more. Ultra-cycling came to me when I needed it most. Cycling 1000km gave me more than direction on the road, it gave me direction in life. I wanted everyone to feel as good as I did pushing myself physically, mentally and accomplishing what seemed impossible... particularly those who may have felt excluded in sports and sports culture in the past, like I did. Fast forward a couple of years and a few more twists and turns in my story, and The Mettleset was born from this desire to serve, share and enable. We're a female-owned fledgling media company that puts women in sport first. Since launch, we've featured well over 60 athletes from over 30 sport disciplines. We've launched two chart-topping podcasts, which together have occupied the top spot in the charts in 20 countries, have reached audiences in 109 countries and with all of our platforms, we regularly reach over 300,000 people per month with personal stories, important topics, how-tos and fun content that celebrate underrepresented athletes. My own story is partly why I loved speaking with Ingeborg Oie and Ian To of VIA race, one of the newest self-supported ultra-cycling races on the calendar for Episode 11 of The Just Bikes Podcast. This is a race for, and by the community it serves, born out of a love the sport and a desire to make it better, safer and more inclusive. Please do check it out below. Sport changes lives, builds relationships, connects people with their own power within and the seeds sown in participation - at every level - have the power to bloom far and wide. 🌻 If you're interested in supporting The Mettleset in our mission, please do get in touch!
🎙️The Just Bikes Podcast is back and EP 11 is the story of the VIA race as told by the team behind it, Ian To & Ingeborg Oie w/ hosts Dawn Barnable & Niel Copeland. This 4000km self-supported race is a race for ultra-cyclists, by ultra-cyclists. At its core, it's a great adventure AND a great story based on a historic journey. A story so great that we’ve split the episode into ✌️ parts. Part 1 is live now linked below and in it, we chat about: 🚲 The cycling origin story of Ingeborg & Ian including a world-record 🗺️ The route 🐘 The story-behind the story 👀 The dotwatching experience 🦺 Safety 🫂 Support for newbies ❤️ Inclusivity and the power or representation 🤝 The amazing array of race partners including Café du Cycliste & CYCLITE Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/duxqKGqG Listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/dnZAYyNw Listed on your favorite platform via Acast: https://lnkd.in/gg4TTDzq Part 2 drops on Wed so don’t forget to hit follow. In that chat, we chat about the evolution o of the sport, technology, the importance of transparency for a fair and safe race. Niel Copeland also talks about his race-set up (maybe some tire rolling resistance talk) and you’ll also hear from some participants of Chapter 1. #cycling #ultraendurance #ultracycling #endurancecycling #adventure #sportspodcast #womenownedmedia
