📰 Press Release: February 27th, 2024. The future of trucking is electric, says Tevva, and invites fleet managers to find out why. 40 customers from 9 industry sectors joined us at Tevva London last week for our first Customer Experience Day of 2024. ⚡ Richard of Kuehne + Nagel said: “Driving the Tevva truck was such an amazing experience. The truck drove so smoothly, quietly, and effortlessly - and the power from the acceleration was sensational.” 🎇 The Events aim to provide fleet managers, transport managers, operations directors and anyone tasked with decarbonising their commercial vehicle fleets with the opportunity to get behind the wheel of an electric truck and learn more about Tevva's 11 year legacy and pioneering technology. The next Tevva Drive Event will be held on Thursday 21 March. Ken Scott, Managing Director of Tevva said: “The future is undeniably electric - despite what you might read in certain sections of the UK press - and that includes trucks. In fact, the decarbonisation of trucking will have a bigger positive impact on air quality and reduced carbon emissions than passenger cars. #RyderInTheNews “Ryder’s Carlo Rodriguez, managing director of electric vehicles, said his company expects fleets to outsource more electric vehicles than they do diesel-powered vehicles. The reasons are due to the challenges associated with electric vehicle acquisition and financing, charging and infrastructure, maintenance and repairs, and on-road usage with telematics and digital technologies. The company’s RyderElectric+ service provides customers with end-to-end services while providing advisers, vehicles, charging, telematics and maintenance. The company’s telematics data helps fleets determine when electric vehicles should be adopted.” Transport Topics #RyderElectric+

Good read this morning coming out from the folks North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) and executive director and industry thought leader Mike Roeth. Specifically, setting the record straight on what #HDEV is and isn't in today's world. This quote captures a significant hurdle I see daily when talking to transportation and supply chain leaders about heavy-duty electric and alternative applications - a lack of understanding on "how" to apply alternative / net-zero transportation solutions in an efficient, cost-effective, way: "BEVs are not going to work in every application at this point in their development, so let’s stop worrying about the square peg in the round hole. Rather let’s continue to explore applications, duty cycles and use cases where BEVs do fit and let’s learn as much as we can about the best way to deploy them in those applications in larger numbers." And again.... "An open mind and realistic expectations about BEVs are what’s needed now. BEVs are not the holy grail, however, they are another tool for fleets to leverage to improve their operations." _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ My take: This could not be more correct, and at the very least, companies should be taking the first step to evaluate their networks to identify no regret opportunities where you can deploy HDBEVs at savings / parity to current costs with limited to no change to their operating model. This is the basis to learn, educate, and experiment with a technology that could be a competitive advantage for shippers, carriers, and fleets over the next decade and beyond. Happy Thursday all, get after it! #transportationandlogistics #netzeroemissions #electrictrucks #sustainability #sustainableshipping #bevs #innovationinlogistics #supplychaintrends #electricvehicles
