A confession - Today Being World Organ Donation Day, I had just planned to share this post along with some statistics on the need for organ donation . But as I was about to post , I started thinking on why I had not pledged my organs till date. There were 2 reasons. 1st, Organ donation was not a priority in my life and secondly I didnt know how. So just searched the net , and found that it is easy to pledge one's organs. Went to the National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Site (NOTTO) , under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare https://notto.abdm.gov.in/ And just pledged all my organs and tissues . The whole process from registering to getting the certificate took less than 5 minutes . And guess how many people have registered - Just 178338 till I wrote this Today I urge you all to take the pledge - after all we are not going to carry those organs with us in the afterlife - why not use to save somebody else's life? Pavle is a 13-year-old boy who has been living with constant pain since birth. We need 75 more donations by June 30th to provide Pavle with essential bandages and care. Our little friend suffers from a rare and incurable disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Kids with EB are often referred to as "butterfly children" because their skin is as fragile as a butterfly's wings. EB can be devastating, causing fingers and toes to fuse and leaving severe deformities like "mitten hands." His continuous care costs $1,000 every month, an amount well above his parents' combined salaries, for whom each new day is a struggle. As his father told us with tears in his eyes, "We can go without food, but not without these bandages." This remains one of our saddest cases because the parents know they can help their child have a more comfortable life, but they simply can't afford the costly Mepilex bandages that are crucial for Pavle's life-saving care. But they have kind-hearted people like us!
