This was the most fun I had in a panel for a long time. Thank you DNB ITFA Martin Caslavka and my fellow panelists Benjamin Swedberg Gunnar Collin Dominic Broom and moderator Peter Sargent for the insightful discussions on “Building a Road Map Towards Digitalisation” in the trade finance industry. My 3 key take aways? Here you go... ● Regulatory Impact: Increased KYC, Basel II, and related regulations are driving fintech and alternative lenders to enter the market, as banks find it increasingly complex to serve the market effectively.   ● Industry Innovation: The industry is self-innovating, supported by events and groups like ICC, ITFA - DNI Group, and Swift. Innovation is evolving "bucket by bucket" based on corporate business needs, focusing on the F in trade Finance to build profitable business cases, enable trade, and optimize financing costs. Full End-to-End transaction digitalization likely to take a longer time due to complex nature of the business and dependency on many parties involved – the basic components for this are forming with MLETR etc..   ● Corporates in the Driver Seat: Corporates are in the driver seat for trade finance industry digitalization, with banks following their pace.
