🌳 Conquering the Canopy: A Team-Building Day at Treetops Adventure for the Delta AU Service Team 🌳 😍 Last weekend, our Delta AU Service team had an extraordinary team-building experience at the Sydney St Ives Treetops Adventure Park! We traded in our keyboards for harnesses and embraced the exhilaration of zip lines and challenging courses high up in the trees. 🤗 The day commenced with a mix of anticipation and excitement as we carefully assessed the intricate network of ropes, logs, and cables. However, those initial apprehensions quickly transformed into pure exhilaration as we fearlessly swung, climbed, and ziplined our way through the thrilling treetop courses. This exceptional opportunity allowed us to foster stronger bonds, push our limits, and create unforgettable memories as a team. 💙 At Delta Australia, we firmly believe in the power of team activities to strengthen bonds, foster collaboration, and enhance our overall team spirit. 🌟 Why does Flair embrace adventure and challenges? 🌟   Challenging ourselves both in and out of work is at the heart of Flair culture.   Our founder and director, Harry Burrows, recently raised the bar by completing the Ironman in Nice and has some reflections on his experience.   “I'm passionate about building the right culture in our business. At Flair, we’re all about realising ambitions – for our clients, candidates, and our team. That’s why we started the Adventure Club, encouraging our team to challenge themselves beyond the office walls. Adventures, I believe, lead to a stronger team culture and ultimately, a positive workplace.   In the spirit of leading by example, I took on the Ironman in Nice. It might not fit the typical adventure mold, but it's definitely a challenge!   Some lessons learned:   ➡ Training is the Reward: Training for an Ironman requires early mornings, discipline, and resilience. It's a slow process.   ➡ Coaching Matters: A good coach is like a good manager – for me they need personal experience and respect. I was fortunate to have Andy Wadsworth.   ➡ Rest is Crucial: My training included rest and easy days, which was new for me. Surprisingly, this increased my performance, much like how holidays and weekends enhance our work efficiency.   ➡ Enjoy the Ride: The race day was a mini adventure itself, complete with stomach cramps after the 2.4-mile swim, a fall involving a lamp post, a punctured tire on the 112-mile ride, and of course, a marathon in the Nice HOT afternoon sun ☀   In the end, it’s all about pushing boundaries and embracing new challenges. "Does Flight Centre Travel Group have opportunities for growth and career progression?" A question that I get asked almost daily by my candidates, and one that I am always excited to answer. I always find myself telling them about my favourite FCTG Philosophy: Brightness of Future, or BOF (we love a good acronym here!) So what is BOF? Well, what it means to me is giving all of our people a chance to find their own unique career pathway within FCTG, helping them to see through personal and professional development, and ultimately, just presenting our people with the chance to "just say yes" and try something new. Internal mobility is so incredibly important for longevity, and something that I have seen many of my Flightie friends reap the rewards of. My team alone is a great example of the many different pathways you can take within FCTG. Take Lily-Emma finishing up her journey with us in the AU Talent Acquisition team today to make the move to the UK joining their EU team. Danielle moving from Recruiter, to Future Team Leader, to National Recruitment Leader all within the space of less than three years. Ginny wearing multiple hats and taking the opportunity to use her amazing way with words to help our Communications team with the Flight Centre Foundation pages internally and externally. For myself, starting off as a novice Travel Consultant back in 2019, seeing Covid through in my first year, and finally ending up in the BOF I had from day one (Recruitment) back in 2022. I don't think LinkedIn's word limit would allow me to go on and on for all 18 of us, so trust me when I say the list goes on... Two years on, still loving this role and not yet thinking about what is next, I have been able to see through other BOF opportunities, like taking on different brands in my recruitment portfolio, joining different projects to have my opinions and ideas heard and executed alongside high-level leaders, taking advantage of some of our amazing professional development courses provided free of change by our Learning & Development team... I could go on and on about the opportunities I have been able to take advantage of to better myself professionally and personally. The advice that I have been given by Flighties before me, and the advice that I would give to anyone who joins FCTG - JUST SAY YES when (not if) these opportunities come your way. He looks so happy seeing his dad with the rest of the crew celebrating on tv. Look at him smile. And knowing that his dad will be home next week, he couldn’t be happier. But when should I tell him about next season? That the F1 calendar will feature a record 23 races across a period of just over eight months. There will be double and triple-headers which means marathon travel for team staff. His dad will be away for weeks, perhaps even months in a row.
