🌟 Reflecting on my journey in the entertainment industry, I've gained
lessons that have shaped not just my career, but also my approach to life. Here are three key takeaways:
1️⃣ Kindness and Remembering Names: In an industry where relationships are paramount, kindness and remembering people's names stands out. Whether you're a talent, producer, or manager, reputation precedes you. Treating everyone with respect not only helps create positive connections but also safeguards your reputation. Remember, in our industry, news of bad behavior spreads fast. 😎
2️⃣ Continuous Learning and Adaptation: The entertainment landscape is ever-evolving, demanding a commitment to continuous learning. Immerse yourself in diverse experiences and stay attuned to emerging trends. By expanding your knowledge , you're ready for any change because if Covid proved anything - entertainment never dies - just evolves 😄
3️⃣ Advocating for Yourself: Confidence in your worth and the courage to speak up are indispensable assets in this industry. Don't hesitate to assert yourself and articulate your value. While our world is filled with bold personalities, advocating for yourself garners respect from those people around you.
I'm curious to hear from fellow industry professionals: What lessons have you learned from your experiences?
Despite the screen industries filling our downtime with entertainment, joy and distraction, careers in these industries (and viable routes in) are far less visible than the productions they create. In this article, Cerys Evans, Careers Lead at Into Film, uncovers the breadth of opportunities in the UK's screen industries.
TV and Film was the most popular industry on the ERIC creative careers app in 2023 with 50% of users clicking on TV & film content, yet only 6% of young people feel a career in these industries is accessible to them. Careers advisers want to know more about the screen industries, in particular improved LMI, employer contacts and industry-specific information hubs. That's where we come in!

Ah, it's that time of year again - #internship season! 🌟 You send out a hundred applications daily, hoping for that one magical response. 📥 But as the weeks roll on, those hundred applications become a few hundred, and the response column remains as quiet as a library during finals week. 🦗
And then, just when you're about to lose hope, you stumble upon an ad for an #unpaid internship. 🕵️♂️ It's got all the buzzwords, promising that the experience itself is more valuable than a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
So, the big #question is: Do you go for it?
🤔 After all, everyone's chanting the same mantra - "Without an internship, your #resume is as valuable as a screen door on a submarine." 🚢💼
Let's Decode the Intern-igma!
💪 Job Catch-22: So, here's the conundrum - employers want work experience even for entry-level roles. It's like asking for a driver's license to get your first bicycle.
💃The Internship Dance🕺Imagine this: 80% of Big Four accounting firms look for interns. It's like they're searching for the next Excel wizard or coffee-fetching champion.
💸The Unpaid Dilemma: But wait, there's a twist! 43% of internships at for-profit companies are unpaid. It's like asking for a gourmet meal and then saying, "Sorry, we only serve invisible food."
🚩The Internship Underbelly: Get this - paid interns are like #job magnets, while unpaid interns are like magnets with no charge.
🎯Equal Opportunity Dilemma: The big reveal: Unpaid internships are as beneficial for your #career as wearing a snorkel to a desert safari.
📢Surprisingly, people with no internships get the same number of jobs offers as unpaid interns.
It's like the universe's way of saying,
💥"#Intern or not, it's all the same to me!"
And here is an unbiased🤣 view of " Life of an Intern" from Neemopani#technology#India#management
Ready to start your career in Broadcast Production? Where you get your start matters.
College helps you build your skills and gives you a taste of what some of the functions of a newsroom might be, but that is not the end of your education. Your first station give you a palpable taste of what the world of Broadcast has to offer. I cannot begin to count the amount of times I hear that the path someone is on wasn't what they thought it was going to be out of college. They also say that it is also better then they imagined. I myself found I have a larger passion for the newsroom rather then the production booth. I would have never known that if it wasn't for my first station.
I write this because you need to take your first step so you can really see the path you were meant to be on. You need to learn what is out their for someone with a passion to continue learning and never let anyone stop you from finding your future. Don't be afraid to take a chance, make a move, and start your life finding what you love.

I've received numerous LinkedIn messages about Master's applications and tips on getting admitted to their dream colleges (Ivy Leagues or top 10 in the USA or worldwide). I did a quick 30-minute video with my mentors, Gradvine and Sreekar, which might help you. Besides the video, here’s how I would answer what stood out for me:
1. 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐚 𝟗-𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫/𝟑𝟐𝟎+ 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐑𝐄 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐬?
- The simple answer is NO! Your profile is being evaluated holistically and not based on just 2 to 3 factors you think are important or are being told so either
2. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐔𝐒𝐏
- 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 and 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐮𝐭: Whether it’s a childhood love for cars leading to your decision of choosing mechanical engineering or my own story of prioritizing empathy over everything and then building up other learnings around it, your narrative is unique. Remember, you are a human with a distinct journey, not just a resume with titles.
3. 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡
- 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭: My mentor Michael, once told me, "Always give something first in any conversation, without expecting anything in return." This life-changing mindset promotes genuine kindness and prevents a transactional view of relationships which has gone a long distance for me on a personal "who are you?" aspect.
- 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Think of networking as building relationships for life. Network with the goal of knowing the person, not for immediate gain.
4. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
- 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝: Ask yourself about your 5, 10, and 15-year goals. Write them down and accept them, this helps bring cohesiveness to your thoughts while writing documents which is your only way of presenting yourself to the Adcom virtually.
- 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡: Be clear about your life goals, if you plan to join programs like MEM, MSCS, etc. Research your chosen college extensively and align your experiences with their program. If needed, pursue online internships to enhance your profile.
5. Final tip: Minimize your application fee costs by attending waiver seminars; email the adcom for these links, 𝑚𝑦 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑒𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑙𝑙 2024 𝑤𝑎𝑠 $0.
The video also addresses why I chose the Purdue University Master of Engineering Management Program (MEM) over all my other admits.
A heartfelt shoutout to Eric, Karen and Kati for conducting exceptional onboarding activities even before we officially begin our classes and being helpful every step of the way. With just 2 weeks left to fly off, I'm eager and excited to see what is in store for me.
