Vinegar & Baking Soda: The Dynamic Duo The Magic Mixture: Start by pouring a pot of boiling water down the drain. Follow this with a cup of baking soda. Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water, and pour it into the drain. Place a drain plug and let the effervescence work its magic for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with another pot of boiling water.
