As part of the company’s sustainability journey, BIS have invested in a Li-Ion Battery powered forklift. The AE series electric forklifts are a new series of high-efficiency and energy-saving electric counterweight forklifts with a new structure that represents a breakthrough over the traditional design concept. The research and development of control and power systems are innovated, and the product exterior, ergonomics, reliability, maintenance and other aspects are optimized, so that the performance of the vehicle is greatly improved   This forms part of our 2024 Sustainability & Environmental objectives and demonstrates our commitment and progress towards our 2040 Net Zero Target that has been submitted to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI).   Progress is ongoing with Scope 1 & 3 Carbon Reduction targets in place for 2030, we are continuously monitoring the latest developments in Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicles (“ULEVs”), particularly battery-electric vehicles, and plan to be operating a zero-carbon fleet by 2035. #netzero #sustainability #racetozero #businessexcellence #businesscommitment

In order to increase the #competitiveness of electric cars in the #passengercars and light commercial vehicles (#lcv) sectors, Volkswagen is focusing on a clear roadmap towards a uniform vehicle architecture for the group-wide product portfolio by 2030. But #electrification also holds great potential in the #heavydutysector: according to a study by TNO, the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research, the #totalcostsofownership of electrified #longhaultrucks will be lower than those of an equivalent diesel vehicle from 2030 onwards. As well as various vehicle OEMs, Shell has been working on the electrification of #heavydutytransport and will be presenting various concrete approaches to solutions at the conference. Wow, what an electrifying experience at the SIA roundtable discussion! ⚡   Marc Sens and three fellow industry experts shared their diverse experiences and tackled the important questions that must be asked while moving forward into a #charged future. 💡   How will manufacturers meet the high standards of environmental regulations? What can be improved in the field of battery development and architecture to achieve better technical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as range, cost, charging speed and safety? ❓   The conversation delved into the complexity of trade-offs between performance and environmental impacts.   One of the main insights shared by Marc was that there are no absolute KPI. Patrick Fruth, CEO Division Mobility at TÜV SÜD, participated this week in the panel discussion “The Global Transformation of the Automotive Industry“ at the #GSS2024 of the Global Solutions Initiative in Berlin. He discussed with Dr. Karoline Kampermann (Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) e.V.), Shuva Raha (Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW)) and Leonis K. Petschmann (Vindelici Advisors) the role of policy related certification and testing of vehicles by independent third parties against the background of the increasing electrification of vehicles and their important contribution to decarbonization. Here are some insights: • It is important to increase consumer confidence in the technology in order to achieve a rapid increase in the share of e-vehicles (EVs). A key to this is the safe operation of battery electric vehicles throughout the entire lifecycle of the battery. • Therefore, the battery as central element of EVs, should be included in the regular inspection as part of the periodic technical inspection in order to enable safe use over many years and to maximize the contribution to CO2 reduction. Standardized or legally required regular inspections by independent third parties shall create the necessary trust. • Another important building block in the transition to sustainable mobility is digitalization. It enables the monitoring of the real consumption of EVs and thus their real contribution to CO2 reduction. • Furthermore, the new EU Battery regulation requires a digital battery passport containing the essential material and performance data. Such a battery passport becomes a CV through a periodic examination, as the condition of the battery is regularly checked and stored. It can be accessed via a QR code. • Legal principles and requirements are also important, such as quality controls during production, the establishment of safety standards for production and use, regular inspections, effective recycling and disposal systems to minimize environmental and health risks, as well as continuous research and development for improved technologies and more environmentally friendly alternatives. #TÜVSÜD #Mobility #EVs #electricvehicles #PTI #CO2Reduction #EUBatteryRegulation
