This isn't correct and is highly missleading. Google Cloud alone has 40 datacenter regions. If you consider a zone in a region a datacenter then that number goes up to 120 (Google Cloud only). A simple Google search reports 135 datacenters (unofficial), which considering zones could be more like 215. The Microsoft number is probably doing just that, considering a zone in a region as a datacenter but a Google search actually just reports 200 datacenters, so I would be keen in understanding were the 300 number comes from.
It is important to understand that these numbers do not reflect the complete big techs data center business infrastructure. Especially in Latin America, it is necessary to add rented infrastructure from large MTDCs (such as Ascent, Equinix, Scala etc). In many cases, their data centers are hired “as built” entirely or mostly for these big techs. These third-party infrastructure are completely strategic for the EDGE services offered by these big techs and the datas likely won’t be accessible since the contracts are protected by NDA’s.
