Our Good Futures report on ‘The Future of Men’ has had quite the response! Multiple charities have asked how they can find out more with many wanting to explore the topic further. Statistically, we know that women give more than men but we're surprised by the lack of data, insight and information around engaging men as a charity audience. Historically the sector has been set up to target women. From stereotypes around women being more emotional and easier to engage, through to a fundraising weighted towards women, it’s no wonder charities have been focused on Dorothy Donor. Millions of pounds are being left on the table by not engaging half of the population. The next Good Conversations programme will deep dive into the world of men, building on the powerful Good Futures trends already identified. With a specific focus on ‘activating giving with men’, we’ll be exploring how charities can better understand and navigate modern day masculinities to diversify their fundraising audiences. They might be 19 now and have not a dollar to give, but they have time, energy and the personal incentives to volunteer.” Currently, the app can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple’s App Store and already has 1.8 million nonprofits listed within. But it’s not just individuals who can tap in. Nonprofits benefit from using Rayze to get volunteers in the short-term while building relationships over the long term. “We’re really aiming to facilitate the connections between nonprofits, who don’t use (and deploy their own) technology well enough, and that next wave of philanthropists, who are more socially conscious than ever.” Rayze also incorporates corporate matching, Nassib said, for people who want to donate funds to charities and groups favored by their workplaces. 🌈 Making Fundraising Better with Personalized Donation Suggestions 🎁 While learning about nonprofits, I learned that grabbing someone's attention is challenging in today's busy world, especially for nonprofit organizations trying to raise money. One intelligent way NPOs stand out is by making donating more personal with dynamic donation suggestions. What's This All About? 🤔 When a potential donor interacts with the donation page, the system dynamically adjusts the suggested donation amounts based on the donor's segment or past behavior. For example: 🥇First-Time Visitor: A user visiting the donation page for the first time might see suggested amounts based on average data for new visitors, such as $25, $50, and $75, with $50💵 highlighted as the most common donation. 🥈Repeat Donor: A returning donor who previously gave $100 might see higher suggested amounts, like $100, $150, or $200, with $150 highlighted as a suggested increase from their last donation. 🥉Highly Engaged Supporter: Someone who has repeatedly engaged with the website, opened emails, and participated in campaigns but hasn't donated yet might see suggested amounts with a lower starting point to encourage a first donation, such as $20, $35, $50, aiming to convert engagement into financial support. 🔄 Testing and Optimization: Organizations continuously test different donation amount suggestions and presentations to optimize for higher conversion rates and more significant average donations. A/B testing is commonly used here. 🎯 The Impact? When we talked yesterday about finding those that are less "seen" to fund, there were some questions about how small, more "unseen" nonprofits can get started with fundraising. Wanted to share some resources as a response: 1. GlobalGiving: an amazing organization that allows small nonprofits to post about their causes and missions and encourage funders to select causes that resonate with them. GlobalGiving also sells gift cards, which is a great way to encourage giving and small donations to help kick-start many organizations' funding process. 2. 1% for the Planet: Did you know nonprofits can list themselves in the 1% directory? That way companies, like Connective Impact (which is a 1% member) can give back to a host of organizations as part of their give-back commitment. 3. Grapevine, which facilitates giving circles. Get your work included in that audience so you can take advantage of larger giving pools. 4. Position your organization as a sub-grantee. Identify ways to receive sub-granted money from larger organizations and begin to grow, and receive greater attention from those (and other funders). We all know that what gets measured get’s done, right? The impact of philanthropic donations is not always clear. Well, I attended the launch this week at Minter Ellison of a survey which would be fascinating for many of our clients. Australians Investing In Women (AIIW) in partnership with the Champions of Change Coalition brought us a presentation by Garreth Chandler of the findings from AIIW’s inaugural State of Gender-wise Giving Survey 2023. The survey explores the consideration of gender in giving by the AFR’s Top 50 corporate and private philanthropists. The results were very interesting and if you care what impact your money is having on girls and women. I encourage you to get in get in touch with Australians Investing In Women [email protected]. They are sending benchmarking to those who contributed to the survey so that they can know and improve the impact of their giving. I strongly suggest you get involved in the next survey if you can.
