Daily toothbrush reduces hospital acquired pneumonia (33%) and mortality ( 19%) in ICU patients. It was also associated with fewer days of mechanical ventilation and a shorter length of stay in the ICU. The question is how to implement it? Should it part of the admission orders?
A new study by Brigham researchers examined whether daily tooth brushing among hospitalized patients is associated with lower rates of hospital-acquired pneumonia and other outcomes. They found that tooth brushing is associated with lower rates of ICU mortality, shorter duration of mechanical ventilation, and shorter ICU length of stay. They say that tooth brushing could be a cheap but effective way to lower rates of hospital-acquired pneumonia. Learn more:

"We’re patient centric because we offer the first and only test in the market that helps physicians give the patient answers about their heart disease in a non-invasive way. I imagine if you or I had chest pain, I kind of want to know the answers pretty quickly to what’s going on with that, knowing what we know. And my favorite part of the job, as you mentioned, is when a patient sees that model of their 3D analysis, seeing that visual…..So medication and health compliance, discussing care plans, and certainly even follow up to the primary care provider or that referring physician is impactful. These physicians are sending the patient for a test and it’s wonderful to empower them to understand what’s going on in those arteries and then be able to pass that along to the patient family." -Lauren Marcheskie To hear more about HeartFlow, Inc and how they are revolutionizing care for patients with heart disease, listen to Episode 62 of The Healthcare Leadership Experience: https://lnkd.in/eycgjukU SpendMend #healthcare #healthcareleadership #coronaryarterydisease #transforminghealthcare #patientfirst #healthcaretech
