The temporary duration of employment, lack of authority, fear of retaliation and general lack of PoSH awareness makes interns vulnerable at workplaces. A 2021 survey revealed that 47% of interns do not have a clear understanding of their rights under the PoSH Act! While 63% of them felt they were more vulnerable at workplaces, 20.7% were unsure whether their organization had an anti-sexual harassment policy and 46.5% were unsure whether their organization had an Internal Committee! Scary stats aside, internships are an exciting opportunity to gain professional experience. Though they are temporary positions, interns are entitled to the same protection as all employees. Interns have the right to speak up against any form of sexual harassment they encounter. They can report incidents to the Internal Committee (IC), and seek a fair and impartial investigation as mandated by the PoSH law. Interns at Voice of SASHA created a resource in 2021 for interns to navigate workplaces and understand how to address #sexualharassment. https://lnkd.in/gfq_Aqv4 Follow us for more! #workplacesafety #internship2024 #employeerights #poshawareness #poshact #poshcompliance #poshtraining

A kitchen teacher actually "touches" on the intern girl up and down😱 However, the intern girl chose to be quiet because she was afraid of failing her internship 😰 Labour law takes sexual harassment in the workplace very seriously 💯 If you've already been "groped", you should report it to the HR department right away instead of staying quiet for fear of failing the internship, I'm sure your university will understand! There are four ways to protect yourself: 😎 1. report to the company's HR department and immediately ask the HR department to investigate the incident (It is said that after the report was made, there was no follow-up and the company chose to protect the teacher) 2. report the incident to your school immediately so that the school can intervene. 3. tell your parents (Parents should take action when they hear that their child is being "sexually molested.") 4. file a complaint with the police or the Ministry of Labour. In short, "sexual harassment" in the workplace should not be tolerated 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. The government also announced in 2023 that all notice boards in companies need to be labelled with sexual harassment notices as a warning. Victims can't take it lying down.

🌟 Advancing Equal Opportunity in Employment 🌟 I've been reflecting on the importance of equal opportunity in employment, particularly in the context of internship/job selections. It's disheartening to see how the weightage given to the educational institution sometimes overshadows an individual's potential and qualifications. As someone who believes in meritocracy, I'm concerned about the impact of such biases on aspiring professionals, especially those from diverse academic backgrounds or pursuing distance learning programs. Education should be a gateway to opportunities, not a barrier. Every individual deserves a fair chance to showcase their skills and abilities, regardless of their alma mater or background. I strongly believe that highlighting these disparities is the first step towards fostering a more inclusive and equitable work environment. By encouraging dialogue and advocating for fair and transparent selection processes, we can work towards a future where talent and potential are truly recognized and valued. Let's come together to champion equal opportunity and create a workplace culture where everyone has a seat at the table. #equalopportunity #inclusiveworkplace #meritocracy #professionaldevelopment

Do Interns Have a Voice? Hello LinkedIn community I've been curious about the rights of interns in the workplace, especially when it comes to addressing unfair working conditions. Do interns have the right to speak up if they encounter unfair treatment or working conditions? What are the guidelines and protections in place for them? I'd love to hear your insights and experiences on this topic. If you're an intern, have been one, or work closely with interns, your perspective would be invaluable. Looking forward to your thoughts! #InternRights #WorkplaceFairness #EmploymentLaw #CareerDevelopment #LinkedInDiscussion
