I love the insights about collaboration and trust from community-weaver-extraordinaire Ines Echevarria in the Vital Village Networks podcast. Worth a listen! Here's a quote: “People used to throw the word ‘collaboration' around, which meant you got around the table and worked to get something done, like going after a grant to provide a program. In my mind, it’s evolved from that happening with organizations around the table to involving local leaders. Collaboration has moved from just writing a grant together, with more attention to racial equity, we’re looking at who is out the table? How are they talking to each other? What does equity mean in terms of collaboration? What I’ve learned in my work, is that collaboration has to be intentional. It’s not just having a vision. You have to learn and practice being in relationship differently. You have to have tough conversations and really get to know people and what they care about.” I've been honored to work with and learn from Ines to support growth of these kind of trusting generative spaces in several communities. #trust #collaboration #collectiveimpact #equity https://lnkd.in/eHc3FFrv
In Episode 5 of In The Arena with NOW, Ines Echevarria, long-time Boston community builder and Vital Village National Advisory Board member, joins us to share how we can practice collaborative relationships differently by centering trust and “Heart Work.” Listen Now: https://lnkd.in/eHfag6kR

Reflecting on two days of insightful conversation and shared wisdom at the Grantmakers of Kentucky Event! Here are some insights and takeaways from our CEO, Tiffany Benjamin, on exploring innovative strategies and discussing the challenges and triumphs in grantmaking: -A particularly impactful session was dedicated to Community Listening; Panelists shared how they build the ability to hear from the community before making funding decisions. -Discussion revolving around the evaluation of strategies to ensure the voices of community are truly being heard. A cautionary tale was shared by a participant, highlighting the experience of a funder who devised a strong plan, only to have the strategy go unused because there had not been direct engagement with the families in the community. -We also discussed that we now have fewer local connections to each other and we need to do more to come together to create spaces for people to convene.

Transform your funding journey and schedule your FREE consultation today! Schedule your appointment here: https://lnkd.in/gGjSeWaX Introducing The Sailor Justice Project In a world where resources often remain out of reach for marginalized communities, The Sailor Justice Project stands tall with a unique mission - to utilize grant writing as a potent tool for social justice. Our mission is clear: "To use Grant Writing as my Social Justice Quirk." Through this, we envision a brighter future where businesses, particularly those championing social justice causes, can thrive and contribute to economic growth. Our vision? "To increase access to equitable funding for businesses at the intersection of social justice and economic growth through grant writing, grant education, and global community building." But why was this project founded? At the heart of it all, we recognized the transformative power of equitable funding. We saw the potential for grants to bridge the chasm of economic disparity and the opportunity to foster global communities that understand and support each other's causes. And as we work towards this vision, we live by our values: Social, Economical, and Racial Justice - Our foundation. We demand a world where everyone, regardless of their background, is treated fairly and has equal opportunities. Global Inclusion and Belonging - We create spaces where everyone feels they belong, transcending borders and cultural divides. Human Rights Advocacy - Our commitment to championing the rights of all, ensuring that every voice is heard and respected. Language Equity - 우리는 언어의 평등을 믿습니다. We believe in the power of words, and everyone's right to be heard in their own tongue. Mental Health as Community Health - We affirm that the mental well-being of one affects the whole. A community thrives when its individuals are mentally healthy. Leadership with Abundance and Care - In all our endeavors, we lead with generosity, ensuring that there's plenty for all and that every action is rooted in care. In a rallying cry to all those who share our vision and values, we proudly declare: “An #Army changing the world one grant at a time.” Join us, be part of this global army, and let's transform communities through equitable funding.
