SAM AND BUFFALOES After receiving a lifetime achievement award recently, I have spent much time reflecting. The key word is “lifetime”. How have I survived the frustrations and the push back all this time? Then a revelation. IT’S NOT ABOUT ME. It is about the organization. The SAM team is just a vehicle to get where your Leaders’ want to go or not go. Let me tell you a story. There is this very stubborn buffalo (organization). He has been drinking out of the same watering hole for years (software program). The owner of the watering hole is charging unreasonable rates for the water (vendor). You get all your best buffalo wranglers and water engineers together (SAM team). You prepare all the best enticements (data) to move that old buffalo to the sweetest watering hole on earth(software optimization). Unfortunately, that stubborn foolish buffalo simply refuses to move. You know it’s not in its best interest so what do you do? You move on to the next Buffalo. Maybe the watering hole finally dries up and Old Stubborn comes back around. You explain to the wranglers how their work was excellent. We used all our best practice wrangling tricks. It’s about the buffalo. Not us or me. You let it go and move on. That is how you string a lifetime of Buffaloes together. It’s not about me I did my best. #sam #itam

What’s your favorite thing about working at FACS?  One of the things I love most about working at FACS is the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that have a positive impact on the environment. It's incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that's dedicated to making a difference in the world. What is one thing we don't know about you (non-work-related)? Outside of work, I'm all about hockey, golf, hiking, and most importantly, spending quality time with my family. What is one thing that you geek out about?  I'm a bit of a history buff and love diving into the stories and events that have shaped our world. Whether it's ancient civilizations, wars, or cultural movements, I find it fascinating to explore the complexities of the past and how they've influenced our present. What is your favorite store to shop at in-person or virtually? When it comes to shopping, I'm a huge fan of browsing through local farmer's markets. Do you have any pets? Yes, I'm proud to say I have a rescue dog named Tusk, who brings endless joy to my life. He's a delightful mix of Shiba Inu and Husky, and our favorite activity is going to the brewery together and hunting lizards! What is your favorite book to read?  Two of my top picks are "The Worlds That Made Us" by Akhil Reed Amar, delving into the historical roots of American constitutional law, and any work by Dr. Seuss, whose imaginative stories always bring joy and inspiration. What is your favorite random fact?  The term "Windy City" was not originally coined because of Chicago's weather, but rather because of its politicians. 

Monthly town halls are a great way to keep employees updated on the business. This month’s town hall falls on opening day at Fenway for the Red Sox so we will be raffling off a Red Sox blanket and will have the following treats: peanuts 🥜, cracker jacks, and soft pretzels 🥨.
