🌟 We're thrilled to introduce you to our newest team member, Ian Newman, AICP 🌟 Ian joins Citian as a Safety & Accessibility Transportation Researcher, bringing a wealth of experience from his role as a Regional Transportation Planner at the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority and in prior positions. Let’s hear from Ian to get to know him a bit better: 🔹 Q: What motivated you to work for a company like Citian? A: "I was quite motivated to join Citian due to the fact that it is principally involved in both transportation safety and active transportation accessibility (two significant passions and interests of mine as a transportation planner) and is actively making considerable steps forward in the transportation industry via ADAPT and CRASH." 🔹 Q: We often hear government agencies have limited staff and limited data. Based on your public sector work experience, how did that impact your quality of work? A: "It impacted my work because of the fact that I had to utilize data that was oftentimes outdated and I didn’t have the highest level of confidence in the data quality. It also restricted my abilities to vet projects in short to mid-term funding programs, as well as long-range transportation planning, concerning the magnitude of crash frequency and crash severity at intersection- and roadway-focused project applications. I’m eager to build tools that improve the depth and quality of data available to agencies." 🔹 Q: What’s a fun fact that you’d like our LinkedIn community to know about you? A: "I’m a self-proclaimed, Professional Pedestrian! Catch me making urban hikes, and signing up for walking tours throughout Washington DC to explore new neighborhoods, parks, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, historic sites, and more! " Please join us in welcoming Ian to the Citian team! 🎉 #NewHire #VisionZero #CompanyCulture #EmployeeSpotlight

Employee Highlight: Steve S. Meet Steve S., our resident expert and multi-talented team member at Element Tempe. Steve wears many hats, serving as our Quality Manager, Safety Officer, Deputy Export Compliance Officer, and the go-to backup guy for just about everything. With 22.5 years at Element, Steve literally knows everything there is to know about this facility. One of Steve's proudest achievements is the in-house development of our solar chambers. “They were built from scratch to meet the specific requirements of MIL-STD-810G and have been noted by several clients as having the best spectrum match they had ever seen,” he says. This project showcases Steve's dedication to quality and innovation. Steve enjoys the variety of activities his job offers and values the people he works with. “The teamwork here is exceptional—everyone contributes to getting the job done safely and correctly,” he shares. The varied backgrounds of the staff allow them to tackle challenges from multiple angles to find effective solutions. What motivates Steve? The opportunity to learn something new and the chance to share his knowledge. Born in California and raised in Colorado, Steve has called Phoenix home for many years. Married for almost 50 years (wow!!), he has two adult children with advanced degrees and has had many dogs and cats over the years. Outside of work, Steve is a ferroeqinologist (can anyone guess what that means??), enjoys taking pictures (though he humbly admits he’s not really a photographer), and prefers spending time around green trees and running water. Looking ahead, Steve sees Element growing in both capacity and capability, embracing inevitable change and continuing to thrive. Stay tuned for more stories highlighting the incredible team behind Element Tempe’s success. #InOurElement #VibrationTesting #ShockTesting #TeamSpotlight #EmployeeHighlight #ElementTempe #GoodVibrations

I see incredible potential on the horizon... This week I had the great pleasure of meeting a handful of amazing individuals, who all in their own way are extremely passionate about construction, and the future of the industry. To say it got me fired up would be an understatement :) I'm coming away from this week in Calgary encouraged, excited and inspired for what's coming!! As I continue to meet more owners, leaders, managers and field staff, it is becoming more and more apparent that we need to come together as an industry. We need to put aside the 'gate-keeping' and 'secret sauce' talk, and start learning, sharing and growing together. I guess one of the advantages I have, is being able to jump between many different businesses in construction, and connect like-minded individuals. We've got people like Martin Socha and Greg Epp who are crazy cool advocates for the electrical sector as well as the next generation of construction. Then we have Matea Herauf who has a larger than life personality, a lot of field experience, and is also a huge proponent of breaking down barriers in the industry surrounding women in the trades. I also had the opportunity to spend some time with Josh Arnold who is building a really cool company and breaking the stigma surrounding 'the next generation doesn't want to work'. All of these people have one thing in common. They want to see other people succeed. And if that isn't our focus in this industry, we're going to fail. It's time to come together, Always Value People, Be Joyful, Communicate Clearly and Drop our Ego's 💪 Let's GO! #redefineconstruction #valuepeople #constructionindustry

Brand consultant | Strategic advisor | Brand & Marketing Design Judge: pac-awards.com | Writer | Art & Design | Advertising | Creative Director
Some time ago, I reached the realization that there are distinct forms of effort, which are frequently misconstrued as one. Effort is a combination of energy and time, and I have categorized it as follows: Work: This encompasses any task that requires your time and energy. Job: Referring to tasks that you are specifically hired to perform. Business: An opportunity to capitalize on something valuable. The creative journey is not a straightforward path, but rather a series of stages that unfold in a non-linear manner. https://lnkd.in/eVPxmGsf PJClayton & Co.

Leading Top Electrical Construction Talent To Live With Purpose ⚡️ Matching Talent To Hand-Picked Clients | I Write About Living A Meaningful Life After Near-Death 👉🏼 Advice to Level-Up 💜 Porphyria Advocate
I’ve made many crazy decisions in my life. Because that’s what felt right at that moment. In 2008, I decided to leave Construction for good after I helped scale an electrical construction firm from 400M to 1.3B in my tenure. Why? The owner’s values didn’t align with mine. I can’t ever compromise my values. I left the company at a time when I could’ve easily gotten promoted. In 2021, I left corporate America (my dream) to start my firm, M Squared Talent Solutions. Reason? Near-death experience showed me the fragility of mindlessly chasing the corporate ladder. It was a great gamble considering it was during Covid shutdowns, my weak body, etc. Present day, I founded The Electrical Community with Irene Walsh Garcia and Sergio Cortez. Easily the 1st community for #ElectricalProfessionals. Prompt? We’ve seen the industry’s problems and can’t unsee them. In our first meeting, we felt this could be a crazy decision. And it was. But that’s what made us pursue it. You see, in my life, all the crazy decisions turned out the best ones. They helped me find my calling - to help electrical professionals live a meaningful life and earn big figures. All that led to the foundation of The Electrical Community. Starting a community for ALL THINGS ELECTRICAL is not an easy decision. But those who dare to do crazy things end up making the best of it. I believe in our vision for the community. If you feel like doing something crazily useful today, check out the community. https://lnkd.in/gmnxE5gf ----------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Mayra Martinez ⚡️ for Tips to live a Meaningful Life! #MeaningfulLifeWithM2 #TheElectricalCommunity #ElectricalConstruction
