LINK TO THE ARTICLE BELOW! 🚆💡 As proud members of the Metro-North Railroad family, we stand at the forefront of an exciting venture that promises to revolutionize the way we maintain our fleet and serve our community. It's a moment of pride and anticipation for all of us at MTA Metro-North Railroad. Metro-North Railroad is spearheading a pilot to test an automated railcar inspection system. This initiative is made possible through a generous $2 million federal grant under the Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Grants program. 🌟 This project is not just about leveraging technology for the sake of innovation. It's about significantly enhancing the safety, reliability, and overall service quality for the commuters of New York and Connecticut. By integrating advanced sensors and software, the system aims to provide early detection of potential defects, enabling proactive maintenance and reducing downtime. 🛠️💡 The goal? To move beyond traditional manual inspection methods and embrace a future where maintenance is predictive, not just reactive. This approach aligns with a broader vision to make transportation not only safer but also more efficient and customer-centric.🛠️❤️ Thanks to the vision of our leadership, we’re exploring new frontiers in rail maintenance. This automated system, equipped with advanced sensors and software, will complement our current inspections, allowing us to proactively address maintenance needs and improve service reliability. 🔍💡 As someone passionate about continuous improvement and innovation, this development excites me. It represents a convergence of technology and practical application that could set a new standard for the industry. 🌈 Let's celebrate the strides being made towards a smarter, safer, and more reliable future of transportation. Here's to innovation driving us forward, making every journey better than the last. 🥂 #Safteyfirst #innovation #MetroNorth #Innovation #RailroadSafety #FutureIsNow #SmartTransportation #MNROPEX #ContinuousImprovement Metro-North Railroad Metropolitan Transportation Authority https://lnkd.in/eWGu8pCw

"There'll be 12,500 fewer cars on the I-45 once this thing opens, so I would argue that there's benefit for you," Byford said. "If you are, for example, an airline and you might argue what's in it for you, well, you can free up gates slots and planes to operate much more revenue-generating medium-to-long-haul routes than what is typically not very profitable, short-haul routes. https://lnkd.in/eDkUmvrN

Faster trains with higher passenger capacity? Yes please! 🚆 Alstom’s Avelia Liberty trains, recently approved by the Federal Railroad Administration, are set to bring significant advancements to the Northeast Corridor. The $1.6B equipment upgrade will replace Amtrak's Acela fleet - end of life as of 2016 - enhancing travel between D.C. and Boston with speeds of up to 160mph and improved curve handling through innovative tilting technology. Expect to see these new trains running with passengers later this year! Complementing this is the $100B CONNECT NEC 2035 program, a multi-agency, multi-year endeavor that aims for strategic state repairs and infrastructure upgrades, promising a substantial boost in regional connectivity and economic potential. #nec #trains #highspeedrail #railwayinfrastructure

RailCommodore Now Equipped With A Powerful Railcar ETA Engine This week, our RailCommodore team deployed a powerful railcar ETA engine that will allow for terminal and railcar fleet managers to know exactly when their railcars will be arriving. It’s common knowledge in the rail industry that the railroad’s ETA’s are to be taken with a grain of salt. They base their dates off the best case scenario, not necessarily what really happens most of the time. Now, you have the opportunity to use REAL, historical data to make better strategic decisions around the timing of railcar deliveries. Reach out today to learn more about how RailCommodore can make you more efficient.
