Pakistan zindabad!

“Where do you see yourself after 5 years as a professional and as a person?” was my question to Engineers’ Batch #50 who joined Nayatel as their first job. I love this question because in student life, targets and objectives are quite clear but become blurred in practical life. If you don’t know where to go, then it doesn’t really matter which way you go. You may reach somewhere but not at the right place. Here're answers and some are awe-inspiring: Shazma Sohail: to inspire people with words, publish a poetry book, and write a fantasy book.   Wajeeh Hassan: in 7-8 years I see myself in your, that’s CEO’s position, passionate about flying airplane.   Ahmed Khalid: to become a manger, more self-composed and mature.   Talha Qaiser: to become an entrepreneur.   Hamna Younis: to become more technically sound, to play cricket and learn to ride a bike so I can roam in Rawalpindi and Islamabad freely.   Abdullah Mir: working as a team lead.   Saad Kamran: become a senior manager in Nayatel.   Hadiya Nadeem: become a manager and more disciplined.   Abdullah Khurshid: to go with the flow and to explore entire Pakistan on bike.   Owais Raza: working as a lead in cybersecurity. Hadia Sattar: to improve decision-making skills and to get to higher designation.   Ahsan Kayani: to work with full dedication and get as many fast track promotions as possible.   Ahmad Farooq: to gain a lot of expertise in telecom. Nimra Nisar: to learn more about cloud computing, start my own business and to become emotionally intelligent.   Abdul Wahaj: at a senior position in Nayatel and as my name resembles Sir Wahaj’s, I want to start a Digital Madrissa to work for communities with low literacy rate and less resources.   Noor ul Ain: to reach to a managerial role.   Aqsa Aziz: own my business in next 5 years, if not then at a leading role in Nayatel.   Alishba Zahid: to become a better Muslim, passionate about politics, and pursue masters in a subject that I love.   Muhammad Faisal: have better communication skills, a better network and improve reading habits.   Asima Tahir: to become more professionally sound and inspire others in cyber security.   Saaim Jahangir: to become more technically intelligent.   Tauqeer Hassan: to develop latest tech products that would help people and improve my soft skills.   Muhammad Fahad: to learn machine learning and to become intellectually sound.   Usman Rauf: to improve my social and communication skills and become a manager.   Ammar Mazhar: to find out what I am best at and do things better, to become emotionally stable.   Muhammad Anus: to take my parents to Hajj and Umrah.   Muhammad Basil: at a managerial position, to have more self-control and self-discipline. Since we started Nayatel, we’ve been hiring fresh engineers in batches. Majority of our leadership comes from these Engineers Batches and many have moved to other great companies across the globe. All the best to these aspiring leaders.

“Pakistan has huge growth potential and with removal of bureaucratic hurdles, private sector can effectively drive this growth”. Discussed this and many other things while meeting with our friend Mr. Jamil Qureshi, newly appointed Secretary of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) Division, a passionate professional who after serving abroad in Reseach in Motion (aka Blackberry), NEC, etc, returned to Pakistan to serve homeland. Mr. Qureshi is playing a leading role in private sector business facilitation on behalf of Gov of Pakistan. He played an instrumental role in solving right of way (ROW) problems for broadband. Mr. Qureshi said “I feel depressed when people pessimisticly ask me why you returned to Pakistan” and I tell them “it’s time to serve homeland and to be the change whatever I can be in my circle of influence”. I couldn’t agree more. Despite hardships, not everyone wants to leave homeland. We need more and more good people like Jamil Qureshi and so many others, in gov or private sector, who’re trying to lit the candles instead of cursing the darkness.

Gov taxes salaried class to fund its luxuries like spending Rs. 6 crore/year on grass of President House/Palace (baqi qaum tou sirf ghass khai) and pushes law abiding tax payers to hide taxes because of exorbitant rates. My take on ARY. International Monetary Fund and Kristalina Georgieva pushed Gov of Pak to suck blood of captured salaried class instead of taxing untaxed while Gov luxuries increase exponentially. #salariedclass #taxkumkaro
