What has happened to all the producer jobs? I've not got any further insight, so it's a bit of an open question. Thankfully it seems like the industry is slowly ticking back to life with Talent Manager and Facebook picking up speed with the job postings, but, I've maybe seen one or two producer jobs. So what does this mean for producers like me? Do we need to take a step down and apply for AP gigs? It's not like I'll be handed a series producer job. Are teams moving forward to consist solely of APs and PDs? It leaves us floating in limbo. I get budgets are being stretched, and even more so now, but a producer on location supporting a director and focusing on editorial and story is an essential component that productions need. 🚩Remember: A Creative Director is hired to DIRECT the creative. The title is the job description. If you’re being thrown “idunnos”w/ no compass that’s called a vague director. And the only traction you’ll get is spinning wheels. 

Transferring creative ideas and imagination is so difficult. I have specific way and a vision for every thumbnail that goes on our channel. Unless I write it out so specifically that it's nearly impossible to screw up, leaving people to their own devices rarely gets the result I want. The question is more, do I let it go and take that time back? Hire a creative director? (I'm not a creative firm and it seems like overkill). Or do I continue to "hover" over this very important process and continue to refine.

Excellent and not at all surprising to see one of our biggest news and entertainment bodies recognise the value, talent and worth of social creators. I still take meetings with "traditional marketers" as they like to call themselves, who scoff at the value of organic editorial content and trend-led streams - even the value of creators at all. And then I take meetings with clients who know that investments in talented in-house creator teams can change the public perception of your brand beyond recognition. Invest $50k in a blanket media buy for one ATL you've cut down to 6 seconds and flogged on every platform or invest that same amount in 50 pieces of platform specific content and a team that's engaging with every commenter and watch the second option earn better traditional metrics.
