Last week marked the end of my 7-month journey as a Product Management Intern at Mailmodo. An internship that helped me gain a profound understanding of product management. This experience taught me the importance of: ->Identifying and translating user needs into successful features. ->Writing good documentation with a user lens. ->Having a strong grip on the features and capabilities of the product end-to-end ->Intricacies of building and scaling impactful tech products. ->Prioritizing tasks effectively from the huge backlog. ->How having a good work culture improves working productivity and outcomes. I'm grateful for the opportunity to hone my product skills under the guidance and leadership of Alok Agrawal, a phenomenal mentor who not only helped me navigate work challenges but also offered invaluable career advice. Had a great time working with my team members Gursahay Singh, Sai Sneha Timmaraju, Abhishek C., Ankush Singh, and Pratik Prakash. PS: This internship also fulfilled a personal dream of experiencing the world of YC-backed startups. My first Assignment as a Product Management Intern I had chills preparing for and actually presenting to coach Alice Awobite-Joshua and my team members but last last ☺️ it wasn't what I couldn't handle. A challenge that PMs face in their journey is "Managing Stakeholders" which was the topic i chose to dissect. I created a scenario, talked about my solution proposal then topped it with my reflection and analysis. I love how solidly i am being groomed and how more skillful i am becoming. Day 98 5 things I've noticed as a product manager intern: 1. The elegant theories and frameworks I studied often take a backseat to the gritty, unpredictable reality of PM life. 2. I write so much, I am always taking notes, I actually have a PM work diary😅 3. Effective communication is truly a superpower. 4. PMs work with so much data, yeah I kind of knew that but still I’m surprised by the amount of time I spend working with data. 5. Your product might be saving lives, but if users don't understand the value, they might not stick around. The perceived value is as important as the actual impact.
