Doug Parker’s Post

Former Chairman and CEO at American Airlines

Last week I had the pleasure of talking to my friends B. Ben Baldanza and Scott McCartney on their Airlines Confidential Podcast We talked about a serious aviation safety concern of mine — the discrepancy in TSA security at some scheduled airlines versus all others. Upstart “scheduled charter” airlines for some reason have much lighter passenger screening — no federal agents doing positive ID checks; no body scanners; no restrictions on liquids, etc. This is a national disaster waiting to happen. We like to say “9/11: Never Forget” yet we seem to have forgotten all of the work we did as a nation and an industry to ensure an event like 9/11 can never happen again. The terrorists have not forgotten and they still exist. And they target lapses we make in aviation security such as this. U.S. Department of Transportation and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) have been aware of this unintended security risk for long enough. They are studying the problem but have yet to act. The solution is simple: either institute consistent, comprehensive TSA scheduled-airline security wherever these scheduled carriers operate or have them operate from terminals where such security is already in place. As one DC insider recently said to me, “TSA IS going to do the right thing here…the only question is whether they do it before or after a horrific incident.” Let’s all hope it is the former. We’re better than this. Please listen to the podcast for more. Thanks to Ben and Scott for having me as a guest.

That's funny. Because when I flew for JSX, I remember state of the art passenger screening, secure cockpit doors, and near zero unruly passenger incidents. Not the Greyhound bus that is your legacy at American.

Doug Parker Read pages 158 and 245 of the 9/11 Commission report — the hijackers simply waited for the pilots to unlock the cockpit in order to get their breakfast trays or use the lavatory. To date, this is how unlocked cockpits are protected when pilots need to sleep, eat, or use the lavatory... https://youtu.be/keKf2un03wI?si=6uHILuuMX7YN150m

I agree and I don’t know what I’d do if the worst case scenario like 9/11 happed all over again especially to U.S Airways aka American Airlines because I love everyone that ever flew, worked, or flies for that airline ever since my first travel by air experience on a U.S Airways Boeing 737 on September of 2010 and I don’t want anything horrible to happen to the people I love and I mean all of this from the bottom of my heart💞☮️✈️🇺🇸❤️

Oh Doug doesn’t want to mention names but his entire commentary with hushed innuendo allegations is nothing but a hit piece on JSX … an effective competitor that provides better service than AA and goes beyond TSA requirements for Part 380 carriers. If Airlines Confidential wants to do balanced effective reporting then get Doug in a room with Alex Wilcox CEO JSX or Ben Kaufman…heck I would volunteer as a JSX line captain to counter his opinions. Worst kind of fear mongering by Doug Parker…

On Your Flight Today https://lnkd.in/eYmHQbuC JSX ... 5 STAR APEX Global Best Regional Air Carrier for 5 years (2019-2023) in a row by providing safe, efficient, and customer friendly air service. A Joyful.Simple.Experience ... Hop on! For our present and future customers, JSX has met and exceeded all TSA security screening procedures for 14CFR135 Part 380 air carriers on the ground, inflight, flight crew, and aircraft requirements. Awaiting to hear internally the proposed TSA changes for all Part 380 carriers and how it may impact our business model, but I want to emphasize through FAA, TSA, Codeshare partners, JSX has passed all audits, and TSA/FAA surveillance of our operations.

Can’t compete with them but try to kill them by regulation…?

Mr. Doug Parker Y're realy inspiring me on how you show up well on your carreer , also this way tend to give me confidenc on my future carrer that i want.
