DEI&B is full of misconceptions and often misunderstood. Perhaps the most frequent one I hear: DEI&B is about hiring minorites whether they are qualified or not. Friends, that could not be further from the truth. (Don’t just take my word for it. I encourage you to do your own digging and read the data.) The “Diversity” part of DEI&B is about making a commitment to finding the BEST talent there is in places that we’ve never looked before. Places we have historically overlooked. That’s it. Intentionally hiring unqualified people just isn’t happening, and candidly, it’s a silly and somewhat insulting thought. Trust me when I say, no one wants to be the “token.” To work in DEI&B is to take a lot of darts (from BOTH sides). However, walking alongside folks who have the courage to challenge themselves, lean into curiosity, and explore other ways of living, loving, and thinking far out weighs the tough stuff. Thank you, Mike Sullivan, for being open to exploring, riding the ride, and leading the way! 🫶🏽 I am proud to say that OneDigital’s foot remains on the gas and we are committed to maintaining and furthering our strong culture of belonging. A culture where all of our people have the freedom and accessibility to be whomever it is that they need to be for themselves in order to be able to do their best work and live their best life. As I am currently sitting at the gate at #HeathrowAirport waiting for my (again) delayed flight back to Germany, I found some time to reflect on the last four weeks which mark the completion of my first month at #OC #OsborneClarke. A few takeaways and insights I want to share:   1️⃣ Whether or not the onboarding at a new place works out is a combination of many factors; however, first and foremost it is a question of whether you are being welcomed with open arms and the right spirit - thanks to the team at #OC, check on both aspects - I can't help but feel incredibly grateful for the warm welcome, the supportive team, and the great experiences I've had so far. It's been inspiring to see how every member of the team was, and still is ready to lend a helping hand or share valuable insights. #teamtomorrow 2️⃣ While a new beginning always requires some time to adapt and settle in, it is also a great opportunity to re-adjust your ability to learn. I'm more than excited about the endless possibilities for development that lie ahead. Basically every day presents an opportunity to expand my skills, broaden my horizons, and ultimately, become even more embedded in the #OC network. 3️⃣ Finally, onboarding is also a question of prioritizing - meeting new colleagues & clients, setting up the IT, aligning with BD and other functions within the firm (btw, thanks so much for the incredible help so far; in particular, thx to Dr. Andrea Schmoll and all the other #IP partners and associates, Anja Jähnel, John Madre, the entire team of #TAs and so many more). Unfortunately, all these things can't be done at the same time, so please be both, patient and lenient. I am trying hard meeting everybody and getting in touch - if not yet happened, please do chase me, I am always open for a lunch, coffee or simply a chat …   ➡ So, again, thank you to everyone at #osborneclarke for making these first four weeks a remarkable experience.
