A new study is flipping the script on AI and job automation. Forget the doomsday predictions - it turns out AI might not be the job-snatcher we feared! Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers are bringing some fresh perspective. They've crunched the numbers and found that, economically speaking, AI isn't quite ready to replace us humans in many tasks. Their focus? Jobs involving visual analysis. Think inspecting products on a manufacturing line - not quite the AI takeover scenario we imagined. Even with the sophisticated AI tech we have today, the MIT team found that the majority of these tasks don't make financial sense to automate. MIT's Computer Science & AI Lab takes a fresh and pragmatic look at a subject that has been tackled many times, and finds, "Contrary to what one (including this reporter) might expect, the MIT researchers found that the majority of jobs previously identified as being at risk of AI displacement aren’t, in fact, “economically beneficial” to automate — at least at present." A recent study from MIT finds that #AI is currently too expensive to replace humans in most jobs. Researchers found that "at today’s costs, US businesses would choose not to automate most vision tasks that have ‘AI Exposure,’ and that only 23% of worker wages being paid for vision tasks would be attractive to automate.” #futureofwork
