Abortion is a women's health issue. A - women's - health - issue. Do women have bodily autonomy when making health decisions? I wish we would focus on something else. Why can't I find a damn dress with pockets? Why do I have to pay for menstrual products and why are they all filled with toxins? Why are men still making more money than me? Have you seen what's going on in the world. Men are making all of those decisions. Why is women's healthcare so expensive? I was ordered to get an addtl pap a year and it is not covered. There is no federal mandate for paid maternity leave and the cost of childcare is astronomical. Free birth control should be easily accessible without having to pay for a doctor's visit. But here we are...being told what to do with our womb by people who don't have one.

There is a gender equity gap in healthcare and an urgent need to address it. Every day, nearly 800 women around the world die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth according to the World Health Organization. Stigma, language barriers and lack of comprehensive #SexEd in schools hinder access to contraceptives, especially among marginalized communities. To address this, PAI partner Observatorio de mortalidad materna in Mexico (OMM) launched a digital campaign designed by and for Indigenous youth. Using posts, videos and podcasts, the campaign covers topics like adolescent pregnancy and contraceptive methods, as well as access to health services and the right to care. Choosing when to have children—or choosing not to have children at all—is a workplace issue. It's one of the most important decisions a family or individual will ever make. ❌ However, when we ban abortion, we force people to have children when they're NOT ready. ❌ When we ban IVF, we stop people from having children when they ARE ready. ❌ And when we ban birth control, we take away someone's power to choose when and with whom to have children. When we restrict someone's choice, we interfere with their career, finances, and aspirations. We force our beliefs on them, even though they are not interested in forcing theirs on us. Most people just want to be left alone during these private and personal moments. Let's stop politicizing family planning. Let's stop using religion as an excuse for telling other people what they can and can't be, do, or believe. And let's certainly stop conflating our interpretation of a 3,000-year-old work of historical fiction with policy-making in 2024. Let's stop making up BS excuses for why it's "okay" to get involved in people's personal lives. It's not okay. Don't we have better things to do? #healthcare #womenshealth #family #familyplanning

Maternal mortality rates are disproportionately higher among women with disabilities due to various factors, including limited access to healthcare, inadequate support services, and discrimination. Studies reveal that women with disabilities are at least twice as likely to die during pregnancy and childbirth compared to women without disabilities. Addressing this issue requires a comprehensive approach that includes ensuring equal access to maternal healthcare, providing appropriate accommodations, and promoting awareness about the specific needs of this population.
