🔎📈 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗱-𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of attending the annual German Private Equity & Venture Capital Breakfast organised by #CMS and #PedersenPartners. One week after #SuperReturn2024, a wide-ranging panel discussion focussing on the private equity mid-market – from ESG criteria in fundraising, deal flow, exit strategies and value creation to opportunity sectors and outbound investment destinations.   Everyone definitely agreed that uncertainty is the new normal.   𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨-𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨' 𝙢𝙞𝙙-𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙛𝙤𝙧 2024/2025: ▶️ Generally, there is optimism that deal flow will pick up in H2 2024 and 2025. ▶️ For fundraising to be successful, funds need to be able to demonstrate exits; we will therefore see some market movement in the coming half-year and 2025. ▶️ However, fundraising remains challenging for mid-market funds. ▶️ In addition to dealing with the results of the recent European elections (including new elections in France), the US election in November is a major source of uncertainty. ▶️ We won't see a quick change regarding interest rates; governments won’t ease them so soon, e.g. the Fed just kept interest rates steady. ▶️ Overall, as a consequence, PE has to be more creative on value creation.   This breakfast event is always a great opportunity to exchange ideas with other market participants – this year for the first time not only as an advisor to PEs and their portfolio companies, but also as part of a PE portfolio company with PAS Financial Advisory (part of CFGI, a portfolio company of Carlyle & CVC).
