Wells Fargo Championship reposted this
Rory McIlroy received the Wells Fargo Championship trophy via helicopter as part of a ceremony to honor fallen police officers from a local shooting earlier this month. The special moment neatly complemented McIlroy’s special performance, with the tournament also announcing a $125,000 donation to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation in memory of the fallen officers. The presentation also included a moment of silence in memory of the officers who were shot. Four area officers – Sam Poloche, Joshua Eyer, William “Alden” Elliot and Thomas M. Weeks Jr. – were shot and killed April 29 while attempting to serve a warrant at a Charlotte-area home. Four additional officers were also shot in the incident.
It’s a shame this wasn’t able to be shown on TV. Congrats Rory!
Incredible, first class as always Quail Hollow...
Hands down THE best trophy presentation I've seen live. I'm sure Johnny's crew's got all that sand blown around out there back in the bunker as soon as everyone left. Good close to the Wells Fargo chapter.
If Valhalla can’t build a service road and Louisville police can’t admit that their “detective” messed up (not turning on camera & not recognizing that there was more than 1 cop directing traffic so he should not assume that he can “arrest” a car by grabbing a door handle), then Valhalla should not be part of the PGA tour.
This video makes me proud to be a native Charlottean. My hearts go out to the officers that lost their lives. Hats off to Johnny Harris and Wells Fargo Championship for recognizing these fallen heroes.
A great way to honor the officers who lost their lives. May they rest peacefully.
Incredible gesture. Such pride and respect for those that serve the community. 🙏🏻
That’s awesome!!, total class all the way around!!.
Prayers for all the families
What an incredible gesture by Rory McIlroy and the Wells Fargo Championship. This act of honoring the fallen officers and the generous donation truly reflects the spirit of unity and support for our law enforcement.
