An organization, Girls First Finance (GFF), that I am passionate about and have done some work for needs our votes! I’ll explain what for below, but between now and December 21 you can vote by “Celebrating” them via the link attached to this post. This voting platform does require you to verify your vote via email to protect against voting fraud, and you may need to unsubscribe later if they add you to an email list. GFF supports young women directly all over the world to ensure they can access safe, affordable funding for their tuition, living expenses, or enterprise ideas. Millions of girls in all countries are exploited by bad actors in exchange for tuition fees, passing courses, and jobs. GFF’s mission combats this horrific exploitation and lifts girls up. Now, regarding what you’re voting for, GFF’s CEO Andrea Pizziconi authored an explosive report called ‘Connecting the Dots’. This report was recently recognized by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) as a finalist for the Anthem Award under the category of Responsible Technology for Awareness and Media. IADAS’s mission is to recognize and acknowledge excellence on the Internet across emerging technologies. The Anthem Award has become the most prestigious social impact award in the world. Please vote by clicking the link attached to this post and then click “Celebrate” on GFF’s tile. #supportgirls #ngo #international #goodcause #responsibletechnology

Disability Inclusion Specialist | Company Wide Accessibility | Media Spokesperson | Keynote Speaker | Universal Design | Strategist
I’ve rewritten this post twice. I usually just let my post content flow, I can’t remember another time when I have rewritten an entire post before hitting the button to publish it. You see, I’ve been shortlisted for an All4Inclusion CIC award for Disability Ally of the Year. The truth is I never think of myself as a disability ally, I’m just a human being who has made it my mission to help make the world work for the people in it, but I do appreciate that in literal terms I’m a very active ally. However, this award really isn’t about me. It’s about all active disability allies. Not only the other amazing people I share the shortlist with - Alex Winstanley, Baiba Žiga, Gavin Neate and Isaac Harvey MBE - but every one of you who are making a difference. If you’d like to vote for me, I thank you. If you’d like to vote for one of the great people I mentioned above, please do. Two things I do ask of you: 1. Please do vote - allies are essential to achieve true inclusion. 2. Consider how you can be an active ally, or if you already are then share the actions you’re taking so we can celebrate you too. #PeopleSmart #DisabilityAllies #SameTeam https://lnkd.in/eWHmvBgm

Award entries - is there an art to it? With just over a week to go until entries close for the Resolution Awards 2024, we've got 5 top tips to help make your entry or nomination stand out. 👀 Read the criteria for the category you are entering. Look at the keywords and make sure you're using them in your entry. 🎯 Be specific! Draw on real examples, and show how this meets the award criteria. 💚 The Resolution Awards are values driven. Have you shown how the Code is front and centre in the nominee's approach? ✍️ Write simply and clearly. Judges have a lot of entries to review, and won't want to read between the lines or navigate lengthy prose. 📝 Make the most of the opportunity to include supportive evidence. This could be testimonials from clients and peers. Articles you've written or appeared in that show your commitment and passion. But keep it simple, judges won't be able to read huge volumes, pick the most effective examples. It's not 🚀 science, but investing some time and thought can make all the difference. Now, you're ready to enter! https://buff.ly/3WV2ynd The deadline is Sunday 2 June. Best of luck!

My term on the AAPPR Board of directors came to an end last week, and as I’ve been reflecting and compiling memories from the last six years, I’ve been humbled by the accomplishments, the progress, the hardships and the perseverance we have realized together. A group of virtual strangers coming together at the right time, with the right voices, collectively making a difference that will shape the future of not just our profession, but healthcare in this country. What a gift. Thinking on my own experience on the Board, a few speakers from our recent conference summed it up for me well: “Be the Bee” Doyin Richards A honey bee does not waste time trying to convince a fly that sh&t tastes like sh&t. They focus on what they can influence and build. The most powerful force in influencing change in equity and anti-racism is the white ally. Build the hive. Since joining the Board we’ve realized record membership numbers, the most inclusive and intentionally representative Board in association history, built the first DEI micro-credential of it’s kind, navigated a global pandemic and possible end of the association and made a decision on who we are and where we stand as an association in a climate of systemic racism and social disparities. “Play like a Queen.” Anna Frazier Be the Queen in the game of chess - the most important piece on the board. She may be given great power, but her strength is in her ability to alternate between progress and defense. Think two steps ahead, while never forgetting where you came from. Know your end goal, don’t be afraid to take risks, listen along the way, and bring others with you. I give tremendous credit to the Board leaders who invited me to the table. Who had the foresight and intention to seek out a new voice and experience. And then trust me in leading us into our future. “Don’t be a D&ck” Doyin Richards Empathy is not the same thing as compassion. Compassion inspires action. Know who you are and what you stand for. Don’t be afraid to look in the mirror. Show up, even when you don’t want to. Facilitate joy. No matter what room or environment we were in, I felt this at my core, collectively, with this Board. And that is the greatest accomplishment and gift of them all. In a profession where we are constantly told we aren’t good enough, that we need to do more, where the pressures of an entire organization can sit on your shoulders, working with the AAPPR Board of Directors and the incredible Staff has been the most validating and rewarding experience of my career. Thank you for the memories. Never lose sight of the future. 🗳 Voting is now open! Vote for Nadja Ristig, our Director Global Commercial and Sales Operations, at the upcoming Win Awards 2023. Nadja Ristig has been nominated in the "Women in IT" category of the Women of the Year Awards. Studies have shown that mixed teams lead to more business success. Particularly in the development of holistic solutions, where soft skills such as empathy, creativity and orchestration are required in addition to hard skills, women usually come out ahead. And yet women are still underrepresented in the IT world. We therefore need more awareness of the opportunities for women within IT. Innovative IT job profiles, networking platforms and role models are important business enablers - also to inspire, motivate and promote young female talent for the IT industry. #WINAwards #FITKongress ➡ Vote here: https://lnkd.in/eiCvR4Mk

Four ways to make your ERGs more effective and aligned with legal guidelines: 1. Make sure the purpose, vision, values and community guidelines are all clear. 2. Allow anyone, regardless of social location, to join an ERG to support the mission of the group. Ensure that any other reasons for joining doesn’t align with the community values. 3. Offer shared language, terminology and trainings to members of all ERG groups. 4. Design a council that includes members from each ERG to help vision the role of ERGs collectively at the organization. Our training next week dives deeper into how ERGs can support your longterm equity and inclusion initiatives, and how you can re-engage ERGs to achieve your vision. Director Of Public Affairs at Impetus and co-author of How To Go To Work: The honest advice no one ever tells you at the start of your career (Penguin, 2020)
I spent years convincing decision makers to adopt policies. I'd turn up at the Minister's office, present a new report and talk through how they could get it through the Treasury. The new initiative would get announced. We'd celebrate. Surely this time we'd crack the problem. But then the grand plan wouldn't lead to the outcomes we wanted. And we were back to the drawing board. So I started to think differently, guided by brilliant people like Neil Crowther Patrick Watt and Nana Taona Kuo who I have been fortunate to call my boss. People who belived in dignity, justice and equity. Whose policy toolkit was about evidence, creativity and partnership. People who put people at the heart of policy making and built movements to deliver the change. Today I'm working with organisations who live that philosophy, like Impetus - Backing the best who invest in social leaders and their teams over the long term to deliver benchmark beating outcomes, Shelter whose commitment to deeply listening to lived expereince defines their direction, and now The Social Innovation Partnership (TSIP) whose dedication to foster sustained impact by collaboratively influencing the underlying dynamics that contribute to societal issues, breaks every rule in the policy playbook. It is - as they say - a journey. But a better, more inclusive, respectful way of making policy. One that works.
Say hi to our new board members! 👋 In the last weeks of 2023, we welcomed five new Non-Executive Directors to the TSIP board – and we’re delighted to be introducing them to you: Audrey Clavedon, Gurjinder Dhaliwal, Steve Haines, David Parry, and Sheila Ruiz will bring a wealth of lived experience, professional expertise and a passion for supporting TSIP’s mission of reimagining a fair society. With their support, we continue our work in ensuring that people and organisations have the knowledge, access and power they need to drive positive change in the places they choose and the issues that affect them. “The recognition of the complexity of social change and our desire to enhance our accountability to our clients, staff and the communities we work with has been a key driver for the development of our Board”.
