It's great witnessing this CIOB initiative develop under Linda Stevens. Whether construction clients recognise it or not, they have great power. The trouble is that wielding it successfully through the complexities, ambiguities, volatility and uncertainty of the average project is as much an art as a science, and so of course they need help from contractors. The CIOB's Client Strategy is the forum where that collaborative relationship can thrive, leading the industry towards the goal we all hold so dear: an attractive, high-quality, functional, healthy, safe, sustainable, fair, viable and long-lasting built environment. Keep going and growing!

Monday morning motivation... How to increase your value? How to increase the value in your team? Teams that excel have a culture of the players taking responsibility. Almost like, “if you aren’t going to do that then I’ll do it – not because its on my remit card, but because I want this team to win”. Players that take up the slack so there is no slack. Incredible results follow.   And everyone wins. And don’t begrudge the passengers (if you feel there are some). Give them some informal mentoring, coaching, encouragement. Players have a unique place to improve and help other players – sometimes achieving more in turning someone into an ‘A’ player than the leaders or managers can. The EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) is an Executive Committee Member of the American Chemistry Council 's North American Modern Building Alliance. EIMA's Stephen T. Sears, MBA, CEP recently rotated off as Chair of this group. NAMBA is a leading voice on the safe and effective use of plastic building materials (e.g. insulation like #EPS, #XPS, #polyiso) in building envelopes that comply with ASHRAE 90.1 and the #energycodes today. The group believes that having an informed public and robust codes and standards - rather than a single bullet or prescriptive element - are essential to supporting a multi-layered approach to building fire safety. NAMBA's mission supports the safe and effective use of plastic building materials as reflected in the International Fire Safety Standards (IFSS) Coalition (IFSSC) Coalition’s Common Principles of prevention; detection and communication; occupant protection; containment or compartmentation and extinguishment. This multi-pronged approach makes sense when one considers the fact that only 5% of residential fires originated outside the home according to the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) report on Home Structure Fires. Conversely, almost half of all residential fires started from inside the house - in the kitchen. https://lnkd.in/ev3v49qv Additionally, advocating for robust standards like NFPA 285 have garnered real results with respect to high-rise facade fire incidents. In fact, there has never been a high-rise facade fire in the US where the wall assemblies were tested and compliant with the NFPA 285 test. DFDS Business Review On Tuesday, February 27th, and Wednesday, February 28th, Chris Gent and Nathan Booker visited the ICTS-workshops in Ghent and Zeebrugge, Belgium. Their aim was to review and update the existing Service Level Agreement (SLA) between DFDS and ICTS. 🤝 Employing strategic approaches such as Full Service, Zero Defect, Mobile Workshops, Preventive Maintenance, and A and B Services – including MOT – ICTS aims to minimize downtime at the DFDS European Equipment Pool (EEP). 🔧 These measures significantly contribute to the efficient management and enhanced operational performance of the equipment. As you can see from the graphic below, the ASC regions 6 & 7 student competition attracts quite a crowd! Here are some stats: 1,742 students representing 233 teams from 55 universities in 22 states; 128 faculty coaches; 190 participating businesses; and a whopping 1,350 registrants!
