Two fishermen set out for a day of fishing: one seasoned, the other a novice. As they cast their lines, the experienced angler quickly hooks a magnificent fish, while the novice struggles to catch anything substantial. Surprisingly, when the novice finally snags a big fish, he tosses it back into the water. Puzzled, the experienced fisherman questions the novice's decision. The novice admits he lacks a pan large enough to cook the fish, so he's searching for something smaller. The novice's viewpoint, draws a connection to challenges in the workplace. Often, we face opportunities that appear intimidating or beyond our grasp, hindered by fear. However, thriving team players understand the necessity of adapting and deconstructing daunting tasks into manageable segments. This narrative highlights the significance of embracing unfamiliar challenges, despite their initial enormity. Through conquering fear and seizing opportunities, individuals can broaden their expertise and propel themselves towards heightened success within the professional realm. The photo shows a fast race between dogs and a cheetah, the goal was to see who was the fastest. Everyone was surprised that the cheetah did not budge from its place. We asked the race coordinator what happened. After seeing this picture, he replied: Sometimes trying to prove that you are the best is an insult. We do not need to go down to the level of others, to show our strength. Think carefully and save your energy for what you deserve... The cheetah uses its speed only to hunt, not to prove to the dogs that it is the fastest and strongest." I came across this insightful message that really resonates with our lives today. It conveys the idea that it's unnecessary to constantly prove our superiority to others. Just like the cheetah, we should focus our energy on pursuits that truly matter to us, rather than getting caught up in unnecessary competitions or comparisons with others. In today's world, where social media and instant gratification often fuel the need for validation and comparison, it's crucial for us to prioritize our own goals and values. Let's use our abilities for meaningful purposes and avoid seeking constant external validation or trying to outshine others. Remember, our worth isn't defined by how we measure up to others. So, let's be kind to ourselves, pursue our passions, and shine in our own unique way. You're doing great just being you! Take care,

This is a fascinating approach to protecting nature: bringing it into the markets, so instead of the markets discounting and disregarding nature, by acknowledging a market value of certain elements of nature, businesses are incentivized to protect these elements, and yes, are punished if they damage the "value" of these elements. Case study here: Whales. Watch the short video. It brings, market forces, technology and conservation together.
Wow, this is big and positive news for a Friday. 🌊🐋 Leap | B Corp been working with the Blue Green Future team since last week to share this momentous occasion. On 27th March The Indigenous people of New Zealand, Tahiti and the Cook Islands took the reins in their hands and said “We are going to declare personhood on the whale.” Watch the video to see what this means and why it's so important other countries need to replicate this. Huge admiration for Dinah Nieburg who has worked tirelessly to bring this story together and Ralph Chami for his dedication and being there for the announcement last week Well done to the rest of the Blue green team for working on this game changing project Elena M. Rosa Belinda Bramley Connel Fullenkamp Dr Roger Iles Tom Cosimano Thanks to our fellow B Corps Cornish crew Joe Turnbull and the Bull & Wolf | B Corp team for a very quick turnaround on the video production. Public Service Announcement: Only two weeks until Shark Week. As a minimalist, I admire sharks for their simplicity and efficiency, and shear awesomeness! And as someone who cares about the planet, I appreciate the awareness Shark Week brings to folks. Not only about the sharks themselves, but also the crucial role they play in keeping our oceans healthy, which is vital for our planet’s well-being. So, be warned…you can expect shark related content in this feed as well as in my newsletter that week. Remember, life is pretty great. Keep it simple! And…fins up! -Jimmy #health #love #growth #simplicity #sharks #sustainability #oceanhealth

FISHING NEEDS ANOTHER FEELGOOD MOVIE Who’s with me on this? It was 31 years ago this week that the movie A River Runs Through It was released in the UK, where I live. It was already a hit the USA, helping to propel the career of Brad Pitt, but also to propel participation in fly fishing. To a staggering degree. Numbers increased by 60% in 1992 and another 60% in 1993. What would fishing give for those numbers today? Of course, it was good fortune that it happened. But I’ve half-joked before with colleagues in the trade that we should maybe put our collective marketing efforts behind a feelgood film. And why not? As a fun five minutes, go ahead and Google the Hollywood stars that love to fish. Surely someone out there can think of an against-the-odds biopic to pitch? It could be a game changer. Edit: Having some fun in the Comments matching stars to possible fishing movies. Feel free to add yours.
