How we perceive charitable organizations can fundamentally change the impact of our contributions. We often treat charities like friends rather than vendors who we pay to address a problem. If we start viewing them as vendors, our approach changes. We give with a clear purpose and expect measurable impact. Near to 10,000 people in our community (9946, to be precise) have taken a pledge to donate a portion of their income to effective charities. That includes: 🔸 the 10% Pledge, 🔹 the Trial Pledge, and the Further Pledge. Emma took a 6-month trial pledge last year, and we're so pleased that it gave her the confidence to commit to giving 10% of her income until she retires! How many nonprofit profiles are listed on Candid? We asked our staff and here is what they said. All these answers are technically correct! 90,000 is the number of claimed nonprofit profiles on Candid (or at least it was when the video was recorded, now we are over 100k) 1.8 million is the total number of nonprofit organizations that have a profile on Candid, including claimed and unclaimed. And finally, both 1.5 and 1.4 million are correct if you’re only taking into account 501(c)(3) public charities. There total is 1,488,028 501, which could be rounded down to 1.4 million or up to 1.5 million.
