The Constitutional Identity of the Member States and of the European Union In these post-election turbulent times for the EU, it is almost a coincidence that this book, which I have co-edited, has just come out. It offers a thoughtful and critical insight into whether and how we can reconcile the constitutional identities of the Member States and of the EU. It features contributions from Koen Lenaerts, Marc van der Woude, Stephan Harbarth, Miguel Poiares Maduro, Takis Tridimas, Jean-François Bellis, and others, including myself and several judges from national constitutional courts. The book is the result of the plenary debates at the FIDE Congress in Sofia in 2023. While some commentators seem to focus on the constitutional identities of the Member States, one should not forget that the European Union, as a common legal order, has its own constitutional identity, which must also be preserved.

To restore media freedom in Poland is a challenging task that will require a great deal of self-restraint and an understanding of the role of media in democracy.
