Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John Maxwell, Michelle Obama, and Langston Hughes. Combined, they penned thousands of pages on growth through introspection. Yet, these 3 timeless nuggets of wisdom will live on forever: 1. The courage to change begins with a reflection. 2. Inclusivity is learned from the mosaic of our past experiences. 3. Every past misstep is a stepping stone to wisdom. Leaders, let's turn reflections of our past into beacons of inclusivity. Share your journey of turning past shadows into light, or comment on how you plan to grow from them! 📚 Transform your leadership with Dr. Wilburn's new book: 'Lifting All Voices'. #InclusiveLeadership #GrowthMindset #LiftingAllVoices Turning Struggles Into Strengths #GetREAL-AboutDEI #DEI #Leadership #HigherEducation #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion

"Where is the right to lead truly earned? When does it become unmistakable? These questions lie at the core of genuine leadership. As John C. Maxwell wisely asserts, If no one is following you as a leader, you are not leading but simply taking a walk. Throughout history, true leaders have emerged not by the decree of a title, but through the resonance of their passion with the hearts of their followers. It's witnessed in acts of selflessness, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to the cause. Reflecting on my own leadership journey, I recall moments where trust and dedication were forged through actions, not titles. It was in moments of adversity, where I stood alongside my team, addressing challenges head-on, that the bond between us strengthened. Icons like Nelson Mandela, who spent 25 years in prison for his people's liberation, exemplify leadership long before formal recognition. Martin Luther King Jr., through his courage and sacrifice, led a movement that transcended political boundaries. And Jesus Christ, by embracing suffering and sacrifice, continues to inspire millions worldwide. True leadership isn't about the glamor of palaces or theoretical discourse; it's about rolling up sleeves and getting one's hands dirty in the mud of humanity's struggles. It's about wearing the crown of thorns, not one of gold. Leadership, at its essence, embodies responsibility and sacrifice. It's about putting the interests of others before self, leading by example, and inspiring positive change. I invite you to join me every Saturday morning at 10 am for a transformative leadership series on The J-Model of Leadership. “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." — Martin Luther King Jr. This powerful quote speaks volumes about the true essence of leadership. It’s easy to navigate through smooth waters, but the real test of character is how one reacts when faced with adversity. Challenges and controversies are inevitable in any leadership journey, but they also present the greatest opportunities for growth, learning, and transformation. As leaders, we must recognize that our actions during difficult times define us far more than our actions during periods of ease. It’s in these moments that our values, principles, and resolve are truly tested. Are we steadfast in our commitment to our team, our vision, and our purpose? Do we have the courage to make tough decisions, even when they are unpopular or difficult? And perhaps most importantly, do we maintain our integrity, treating others with respect and empathy, even in the face of opposition? Leadership is not about titles or positions; it’s about influence, responsibility, and the impact we have on those around us. In times of challenge, our teams look to us for guidance, reassurance, and strength. They watch how we handle pressure and uncertainty, and they take cues from our behavior. This is why it’s so crucial to lead by example, to remain calm and composed, and to stay true to our core values. In these trying moments, leaders have the unique opportunity to inspire and uplift others. By demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to doing what is right, even when it’s hard, we not only navigate through the storm but also emerge stronger on the other side. Our actions today lay the foundation for the legacy we leave behind. Let us all strive to be the kind of leaders who stand tall in the face of adversity, who are defined not by the ease of the path but by the strength of our character when the road is rough. #Leadership #Character #Resilience #Integrity #Growth

I am Purpose Driven with Disruptive Presence. My Purpose : Be AUTHENTIC, live ABUNDANTLY and MAKE A DIFFERENCE no matter the stage fuelled by pursuit for SUSTAINABLE EXCELLENCE
Leadership is so much more than it used to be. We need to be vulnerable so as to give permission to others to be vulnerable as well. We need to show we don't always have it all. Recently, I've been reflecting on the stages of change by #Kubler-Ross and realized that I've gone through them (Twice in my life with highest degree of intensity)- denial, shock, frustration, and depression - but now I'm in the experiment and decision phase, and I can't wait for integration. Sometimes philosophers become abstract. These models are theory until you face them heard on. I can teach on this change model with my own practical examples....What a privilege! It's important for leaders to recognize these stages and provide the right level of support to ensure that the valley of change doesn't stay too long in the depression phase. This can be fatal both literally and figuratively. Let's be the leaders our people need so they can embrace the new changes and challenges in their lives. I am whom I think I am 💪whom I was carefully created to be. LET'S GO!. Martin Luther King said "If you cannot run..walk. If you can't walk...crawl." But KEEP MOVING ! #Leadership #Vulnerability #StagesOfChange #NewBeginnings
