Our world is increasingly becoming more militarized. I completed mandatory military service in a post-Soviet country, where conditions were tough. The only thing that kept me "sane" was my passion for birding. Birding under gunfire is something not many birders experience. I've decided to share my observations and reflections in this blog post. https://lnkd.in/eWFQ3xG6

Transitioning out of the Armed Forces can feel like you're at a dead end, but it's not. It's just a new beginning. The military can give you a real sense of purpose and belonging, so it's no wonder that leaving can be tough. But just like the saying goes, "When one door closes, another one opens." Here are a few tips for making the most of your transition: Focus on your transferable skills. You've learned a lot in the military, from leadership and teamwork to logistics and problem-solving. These skills are valuable in any civilian job. Get connected with your network. Let your friends, family, and former colleagues know that you're looking for work. They may be able to connect you with opportunities. Don't be afraid to start at the bottom. It may take some time to find your footing in the civilian world. But don't be discouraged. Every job is an opportunity to learn and grow. Remember, you're not alone. There are many organizations that can help veterans with their transition, such as the Royal British Legion and the Career Transition Partnership. So, if you're feeling lost or unsure about what to do next, don't give up. There is a future for you beyond the military. With hard work and determination, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. #veterans #transition #ukarmedforces #careertransition #newbeginnings
