Seems like the presentation should shed light. Been following Creagh Milford, DO, MPH on LinkedIn for a while and he gets it. Just look at the language used in the message below to describe what he and CVS are doing. Really exciting stuff I dont see anywhere else at the moment. Preston Alexander - I always enjoy your posts. Are you considering stand up? I'm afraid we have a crisis of consciousness at the top of big business and its legacy top/down, command and control, leadership/management models focused on maximizing short term profits, raising stock prices and collecting bonuses. Part of this unquestioned model is the funneling of wealth away from the masses, the planet, and all life on the planet and to the top into fewer and fewer hands. Taken to its extreme, we'd have a very few at the top with all the wealth and everyone else with virtually nothing. However, we'll never get to this point because the system itself is not sustainable. We're already starting to see this breakdown in systems such as healthcare where, for practical purposes, rural and primary care are being put out of business by big healthcare focused on maximizing profits. Consolidation in HC continues at record pace (fewer and fewer hands) with the largest companies becoming dominate as they close in on monopoly. Who has been hurt the most? Little people--staff, patients, families and communities. Note: AI will accelerate the breakdown of the system wherever it is used for cost reduction, which will likely be nearly universal in big business. She also describes the company as "highly complementary," beneficial for both providers and insurers, and maintains a "bullish" stance in her discussions. Again, these points all sound promising, provided we overlook the complexities and nuances involved.  The devil is in the details.   Ms. Langowski shared her vision for the company's strategy, emphasizing the need for approaches that are "less capital-intensive," which equates to "capital-light" and "very scaled models." This perspective is particularly relevant for a company that has faced significant capital losses and urgently requires investment in its retail locations. Such investments are crucial to transforming these customer interaction points, thereby supporting a vigorous and competitive healthcare strategy. At Walgreens, Ms. Langowski faces a challenge that her counterpart at CVS does not: the ability to leverage capital investment and cost effectively. The strategies that benefit CVS may not be viable within the capital structure of her new employer. The longstanding Walgreens pitch of "We aren’t going to do what you do. You don’t do what we do, but we work really well together" has yet to yield significant returns. I remain optimistic.
