He was serious too. Even though I never had done it before.

That's what made it so easy for him to direct me when I got to take the controls.

🖊️A few words about yourself?
👨💻Hello, I’m George Cuculescu and I’ve joined Orange Services 3 years ago as an IT Solution Architect within the Cloud Infrastructure Shared Services (CISS) department. Thus, I’m responsible for the design, description and implementation of the architecture of infrastructure solutions for Orange Group affiliates. And not just any infrastructure, but even a "baked" product by the CISS team called Orange Telco Cloud [OTC]. Besides this, I am also involved in various pre-sales projects to feed the OTC engine with new projects.
🖊️ How did you discover your passion for paragliding?
🪂 I have always wanted to fly, since I was little I dreamed of becoming a pilot. Meanwhile, I also discovered a great passion for computers and electronics and I wanted to please them both. I did my first paragliding flight in tandem, during a personal development camp 11 years ago, and there I realized that free flight, without an engine, is what I was looking for. I then studied paragliding in Brasov and got my license in 2016. Since then, I fly whenever I have the opportunity - both in the country and abroad.
🖊️Tell us more about paragliding, when do you allocate time for it?
🌞Free flying (without an engine) is entirely dependent on the weather. The wind has to blow from the right direction, with the right amount of intensity. The sun is our driving force, it warms the air that elevates and helps us rise. Thus, we can reach the base of the clouds whenever we want to fly for a longer distance. I usually fly during the weekends, it remaining my top priority whenever the weather is bright. There are also exceptions during the week when spectacular record-breaking weather is announced 😊.
🖊️ Do the technical skills from your job help you manage your hobby better?
⛰️My hobby demands a deep understanding of meteorology and going into details requires a technical and analytical mindset. On top of that, risk management is useful in cases where I land without having enough height or for passing over a mountain/hill.
🖊️What was your coolest experience paragliding?
☁️ Definitely flying between clouds with short forays into the "white room" as we call an entry into the cloud.

✈️First Flight, New Heights
Have you ever experienced a moment that made you feel like you were about to soar above the clouds ☁️ , both literally and figuratively? This picture captures one such moment for me, taken just before my first flight took off.
Coming from a middle-class family, I had never stepped foot on an airplane before. Flights were something I only saw in movies or heard about from others. Yet, here I was, seated in an aircraft, not as a passenger funded by someone else, but with my own hard-earned money. This was my first flight, a significant milestone💪 in my life.
As I sat there, waiting for the plane to take off, I couldn’t help but think about the countless dreams every middle-class person nurtures. We all have aspirations, but only those who view their dreams🌟 not as distant fantasies, but as goals to be achieved, truly see them come to fruition.
What does it take to transform dreams into reality? How do we move from merely dreaming to actually achieving? For me, it was about relentless effort, unwavering dedication, and a burning desire to rise above my circumstances.

This flight was more than just a journey from one city to another. It was a testament to my hard work and a reminder that with determination, any dream can take flight. ✈️
