The last 4 years of my career in a nutshell… 2020 - COVID - Furloughed for 3 months Q3 2020 -> Q1 2021 - unfurloughed - returned as Technical Director / Head of Production at NeueHouse 2021-> 2022 - AGM NeueHouse (acting General Manager until August) 2022 -> 2023 GM of Fotografiska 2023 -> 2024 VP of Operations / Fractional COO role - opening two Experiential Attractions in two landmark buildings 2024 -> Business Development Consulting and…… (Noting the 2020-2023 roles were part of a 7 year tenure with the same company.) _____ I’ve achieved a lot in a VERY short amount of time. Yes, I’ve made mistakes but I’ve also celebrated big wins. I’ve grown tremendously, and learned the ins and outs of very complex business models; well enough to open two experiential attractions in one calendar year. I helped lead two businesses out of Covid beginning with a skeleton crew, extraordinary effort and focus. Of course I’m still learning, but the many years of listening, working hard and showing up paid off. Someone took a risk on me, and I’m grateful. Success doesn’t happen over night. Work hard. Learn something new every day. Remember the people that have elevated you, as well as the ones that propped you up along the way. Return the favor. Maintain good and authentic relationships. Be genuine. Be unabashedly you. And when the opportunity comes, be ready to commit. And if you don’t get a call back, or get passed up on a promotion, that’s okay too. "What is it you actually do?" 👀 This is THE DREADED QUESTION I often encounter when meeting new people 😭 Can anyone else relate to having to explain a diverse skillset? I have a background that spans marketing, operations, events, project management, themed attraction design and location-based entertainment (LBE) creative direction. Explaining that I can create high-end graphics and marketing materials, design themed attractions, create magical moments, plan what's going to be 'the next big thing' and also guide their operations can sometimes leave people puzzled... including me 😂 It’s like being a Swiss Army knife in a world where people are used to specialists in one specific field. But here’s the catch – in the themed attraction world, this multidisciplinary expertise is not just useful, it’s a huge bonus 👏 Being able to design an attraction is one thing, but understanding how to work with operational teams to maximize its efficiency and knowing the best ways to market it to audiences is what I firmly believe sets me apart, and it's something I'm incredibly proud of! It's my USP. It's a unique blend that pays off in an industry where these elements are so closely intertwined. Especially for clients with tighter budgets than the bigger players 👌 At present, I'm working on some truly incredible experiences with the amazing team at Xperience Unlimited - all of which are soon to be announced, including a super exciting project for Camel Creek Family Theme Park with delivery partners Playscheme 😍 So, I'm curious... 🤔 Does anyone else find it challenging to explain their diverse skillset to those outside their industry?
