It features leaders, innovators, and trailblazers from various fields, such as asset management, banking, fintech, and regulation. Confidence isn’t just an asset, it’s essential in the world of banking and finance, where decisions are made in split seconds and impressions are formed even faster. For women, the playing field isn't level. A 2022 Deloitte report pinpoints the challenge: women held 21% of board seats, 19% of C-suite positions, and only 5% of CEO roles globally in financial services. While change must be a collective effort, with women at the forefront, we can reshape the industry. This is the spirit behind my collaboration with WiBF (Women in Banking & Finance). Really interesting to hear from Lisa Upton today about perception, biases and aligning one’s practices to one’s values as part of the Women in Banking and Finance - UK Personal Excellence Programme. As Lisa concluded, “we must not allow other people’s perceptions to define us, and we must not define other people by our own perceptions”. I’ll be reflecting on self perception bias and the importance of not conforming to how I think others perceive me, and aligning my actions with my values!

What happens when you get female leaders from Lunar, Swedbank, BNP Paribas Personal Finance, Scrive and me together? Well firstly there is a lot of tatare, but secondly we discuss the issues that affect our professional lives navigating the world of finance. Every time I leave our monthly meeting I leave inspired, energized and filled with new knowledge from these incredible personal and professional connections. This month we discussed: Fintech space: Saturated or sophisticated (ie is there too much choice or not enough good choices)? For fintechs, how do you differentiate. For banks, how do you choose? The multiplier effect. A report from Deloitte has shown that in Germany, within the financial sector that every woman added to the C-suite results in nearly four additional women among the senior-leadership ranks. What's your experience with this? Is it just the flipside of the 'old boys club' or are women more open to seeing potential outside the "norm"?
